Squad Grimaldus

My box of intercessors had a few broken arms/guns, so GW was nice enough to send me a whole new box...in two days.

So I decided it was time to kitbash a squad of Assault Intercessors to accompany Grimaldus.

These guys needed to stand out as his own personal honor guard.

I'm like, 95% done, but decided to reach out to y'all to give input on any finishing touches. What do you think?

Take and Hold, take 2

After playing Take and Hold against Recon, I found it really annoying to deal with a Drukhari Sky Splinter list with extreme mobility, and two Ravagers sniping from far away from any objective. My opponent literally ignored two of three mid-board objectives, until I had over-commited sending Crusaders to charge his flyers. Granted, the whole game was skewed turn one when a single Ravager destroyed my LR, in cover, before I could even do anything.

The mission requires killing units on objectives or from objectives....not easy to do with a melee heavy list.

I'm going to have a rematch and I'm thinking of running the following:

Vindictus Crusade (1985 points)

Black Templars

Strike Force (2000 points)

Bastion Task Force

Force Disposition: Take and Hold

Unit 0:

Emperor’s Champion (100pts)

Unit 1:

Assault Intercessor Squad (150 points)

•Chaplain Grimaldus (110 points)

Unit 2:

Assault Intercessors w/Jump Packs (85pts)

• Chaplain with Jump Pack (95 pts)

-Enhancement: Hero of the Chapter (20 pts)

Unit 3:

Crusader Squad (150 points)

•Marshal (90 points)

•Lieutenant (60 points)

-Enhancement: Blades of Valour (15 Points)

Unit 4:

Crusader Squad (150 points)

•Marshal (90 points)

•Lieutenant (60 points)

-Enhancement: Eye of the Primarch (10pts)

Unit 5:

Intercessor Squad (150 points)

• Captain (95 points)

- Enhancement: Bombast Omnivox (15pts)

Unit 6:

Intercessor Squad (80 points)

OTHER DATASHEETS

Gladiator Lancer (160 points)

Invictor Tactical Warsuit (125 points)

Incendium cannon

Land Raider Redeemer (250 points)

Basic idea is:

Grim-dawg and his AIs in the redeemer, as well as EC.

Both Intercessor squads are for tagging Auspex, as well as shooting infantry from an objective. The 10 man has a Captain with Bombast. The idea here is to use a free strategem every turn, (mostly Shock Bombardment to give a shooty unit -1 to hit) while also gaining a CP on a 4+.

Invictor scouts forward and contests mid objective. Decent overwatch threat, and can punch any peskies that get too close.

JPIs in reserve to DS where needed

Redeemer holds in cover near mid-board to counter dump Grimaldus where needed and provide overwatch threat.

I feel like this will feel a little less hopeless?

Thoughts?

Emperor’s Champion Complete!

I am His sword.

I am His honor.

I am His revenge.

I am Telemanus, Emperor’s Champion of the Vindictus Crusade.

No Pity! No Remorse! No Fear!

Emperor’s Champion needs final touches

Still have to finish the purity seals and backpack. Other than that, I'd LOVE done input on what I should do to finish this guy.

The goal was to have dark shiny/glossy black armor. I'm not great at NMM, but I think I've done an okay job with it here.

What do y'all think? Do I need more highlights? Should I add in some weathering/battle damage? Is there anything that needs to be fixed to make it read better?

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. But before I call it done, I wanted to hear what y'all thought.

Thanks in advance!

Unsung heroes!

Who are your unexpected champions? Those guys who over-achieve and seem to carry your list?

For me, Helbrecht and his Crusaders are always a blast. (Bastion).

But what has shocked me is the performance of my 5x man intercessor squads. 2 of them hopping around stickying objectives and doing actions was about all I expected from them.

That said, they have been mowing stuff down AND spreading around Auspex scans like a plague. I'm really thinking about adding a 3rd or 4th 5 man team. For a measley 80 points, these guys have been the MVPs of my last 3 battles (Ultramarines, Drukhari, Eldar opponents).

Meme Infantry Horde

My local group is doing a 2v2 tournament. My brother and I are paired up. He will be using 1k BT, and I'm going Guard infantry. My goal is to surge forward and try to just be too many bodies to kill. Any BIG stuff I'll let my bro deal with.

"Speed Bumps" [Astra Militarum] - (1000 points)

Detachment: Recon Element

Gaunt’s Ghosts (100 points)

Cadian Castellan (55 points)

Cadian Command Squad (65 points)

(20x)Cadian Shock Troops (120 points)

Ursula Creed (85 points)

Cadian Command Squad (65 points)

(20x)Cadian Shock Troops (120 points)

Krieg Command Squad (65 points)

(10x)Death Korps of Krieg (65 points)

(10x)Death Korps of Krieg (65 points)

(10x)Catachan Jungle Fighters (65 points)

(10x)Catachan Jungle Fighters (65 points)

Cadian Heavy Weapons Squad (65 points)

-Mortars

Basically, leave mortars on home obj, scout Catachans forward, swarm with the rest. Gaunt = action junkie.

Obviously, by itself, this isn't a very competetive list. Just curious to know what y'all think.

Well, brothers, I think I'm (mostly) done! Mordred's helm being mostly black never settled right with me, so I went with this. I really think it looks more like a "skull" now. I also love the animation's depiction of his shoulder pauldrons. The one white, one black, really separates him on the battlefield.

Plasma attempt was rushed and lame...otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it.

Should I add some decorative touches to his tabbard?

What do y'all think? Any tips or opinions much appreciated.

Ugh...so reading Helsreach is what inspired me to start a BT Crusade (If you haven't read or listened to it, I HIGHLY recommend it)

I'm on my 3rd read, actually listening to it while I paint. I totally forgot Grimaldus' line about the Templars having a cross on their chests instead of an aquila. The quote (in the title) is just SO epic.

Problem is...I totally forgot about it until this reread...now I have several units painted, and I don't want to ruin the paint job by sanding off the aquilas.

Has anybody shaved off the aquilas on their entire army?

Also, had anybody had any experience with changing significant details, and matching paint afterward.

Obviously, there is no required "standard" in our chapter, but I'm curious to know what y'all think: does this seem like Grimaldus' perspective is MORE or LESS common throughout our scattered crusades?
