Why did Kongu Cheras break away from the rest of Chera country and join the East coast Tamils?
We know that the capital of the Cheras was Karuvoor, present-day Karoor. Is it Chozha invasion that changed dialects, thus the identity of the Pandyas (imposition of Grantha script over vattezhuthu) and Kongu Cheras, ultimately breaking the continuum with West coast Tamil?
