Programming garage door opener Gen Jones style

So my boyfriend keeps his motorcycles in the garage and is setting up a new door opener app on his phone. He’s programming it thus: The open command is “open the pod bay doors, Hal.” The response: “I’m afraid I can’t do that, Dave.” And the rejoinder is “Dave’s not here.” Then it plays the 2001 A Space Odyssey theme.

Tell me your experiences with total knee replacement….

When I had my very first Medicare wellness exam a couple of weeks ago I mentioned to my doctor that I had knee pain that seemed to be getting worse. So she ordered an X-ray, which I did earlier this week, and she sent me a message yesterday… hey, your X-ray looks pretty bad, bone on bone arthritis, so I recommend you have a surgery consultation. I couldn’t finish my lunch. Surgery?! She told me she can give me a shot in my knee for now if I want it. Wtf! Maybe I have a high pain tolerance but I thought both of these suggestions were extreme. I understand if there is bone on bone stuff happening that it won’t get better. But I don’t feel like I need to get it done like urgently, as she made it seem. It’s not hurting that much. It probably will. It’s not the idea of surgery that scares me, it’s the hassle of it all. My sweet boyfriend said he’ll take care of me but I hate inconveniencing him. I looked at my Medicare coverage and I can cover the deductible, etc without hardship. I can get short term disability at work. But I’m significantly overweight and would like to try to lose some before I do this, as well as get my legs stronger with specific exercises. I don’t think this is unreasonable. So for those who’ve undergone knee surgery, whats your recovery time been like? It’s my right knee so I’ll be unable to drive for 4-6 weeks from what I understand. What else can you tell me? Oh, I can’t take NSAIDs and I get nauseous on opioids so I’ll be stuck with Tylenol or nothing for pain. See why I’m freaking out?
