Why does this car sound so bad?
It’s a 2026 Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo 1L dsg. I’ve driven the 2026 seat Ibiza which runs off the same engine and exhaust setup but sounds much deeper when this one sounds like a hoover.

I’ve driven manual since November 2025 when I started learning, I then went on and passed late April so ~2 months driving manual independent.
I bought a car which I have wanted for a while, cost me a chunk of my savings but in my opinion it was very much worth it.
This car is only sold in a dsg variant, which is deemed extremely hard to grasp. I have only had the car for a day and drove ~50 miles so not a huge amount of time to acclimatise to the car.
I’ve made several mistakes, such as; I used throttle while reversing, almost rammed my front door off, severely underestimated the power while moving off from a T junction where I had to vastly correct my steering and knocked it into natural mid drive.
Not huge mistakes since nothing came from it other than learning opportunities but it’s still shook me up slightly.
Is this a common thing while transitioning from a manual to an automatic?
Please give some advice if you have any.
Hey,
I got a dog today at 9:30am and have only put ~30 miles on it. Since then I have realised that even though the engine is the same size and it’s the same engine profile as my manual, when I plant my foot I feel like it’s much quicker and literally pushes me back into the seat.
Why is this?
Also, does anyone have any tips for getting used to a dsg (dct) since going from a manual?
Hey guys, I’m gonna add a cold air intake onto my 1L ik it’s an underpowered car (115hp turbocharged)
But I want to to sound a bit better.
Clip 1- airbox clipped down and air filter in.
Clip 2- airbox unclipped (air filter only removed to check the size)
P.S. I understand many of you may think both sound absolutely awful and not even worth the hassle but I’m limited to a 1L car (family rules) so I got the fastest 1L I could that isn’t an ecoboom.
I’ve seen many cars that say they have a sub 5 0-60mph but when driven on warm tyres and a dry flat road, people get either way faster on VW models or slower on other certain ones.
Is this unique to VW? As that’s what I’ve noticed it a lot on.
Hey guys, tomorrow I am expecting a call from a dealership to let me know whether I am going to have to wait either two weeks or two months from my car. Depending on if they have it in the country or it has to be shit and built from overseas.
The car I’m getting is the 2026 Skoda Fabio Monte Carlo edition DSG 116PS, I was wondering if I should expect anything from this DSG engine as I’m actually not old enough to take it for a test drive so when I went down to the dealership and asked for a test drive they said I had to be 18+ which I am not.
As this is my second go to that I have purchased and the first DSG that I have purchased I wanted to ask a few questions.
This Skoda I first purchased was a 2025 Skoda Fabio SE edition manual 95ps, the reason I bought this car was due to the fact that I needed a car to learning and it would’ve being low enough power and it was a manual since I was pursuing a manual license.
I’ve not driven a DSG before, so I came on here to ask people if it will live up to my expectations, so under this text there will be a few few questions.
PS, sorry about the backstory. I’ve made posts on Reddit before where I’ve had serious backlash for not giving enough backstory.
Does the dsg shift smooth even in sport with foot planted?
Does the sports mode even do anything?
If anyone owns this car, is the 0-60 accurate or inflated?
Is there a serious delay inbetween shifts when using manual mode on the dsg?
All over the internet in the recent years, I’ve noticed a lot of hate and slander towards people who either drive 1L cars or try and show it off and get completely shut down.
I don’t personally get it, since I’ve driven all types of cars and never really have many bad things, I’d even go as far to say that cars over a 1.5L I’ve had the most issues with and they the power that you would expect.
But with 1L engines it sort of catches you buy Surprise, newer 1L engine are somehow able to cram 120-140hp into the tiny engine.
This is just a question tho, I’d love to hear some replies.
How different will a dsg transition be?
Hey guys, I am currently in the process of buying a brand new Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo 1.0 tsi 116 dsg.
I have only driven low power cars 1.0 turbos or 1.2 naturally aspirated, since I am in the very early stages of driving so my insurance is at an all time high so please don’t judge the car choice.
I was just coming on here to ask if I would notice a difference in power, speed and acceleration.
Recently I have just had the lower spec of this car, the Skoda Fabia 1.0 tsi se edition manual 6 speed. It was a pretty nippy car, especially for the size of the engine, but I am ashamed to admin that I am a slow shifter in a manual car.
The manual version of this car, on paper has a 0-60mph of 9.3 seconds, I was probably averaging more around 15-17 seconds 0-60mph, but this Monte Carlo is a 9.5 second 0-60mph with constant power and no breaks inbetween gear changes.
I’ve worked on manual cars a lot with my dad. I am also only a level 1 mechanic in college in the uk at the moment so, I haven’t learnt a great deal about transmissions (auto ect.) so my knowledge on how much faster this will be is very little to zero.
So if literally anyone could help me get a better understanding on how much faster it will be, and if it’s got enough torque to loose a small bit of traction off the line just like my friends 1.0 tsi dsg with 10 less hp, please let me know.

Upgrading my car 1 month after passing
I passed my driving test on the 27th of April this year.
I started off with a 2026 skoda Fabia se edition 116 manual, which isn’t a bad car at all but not suiting me currently after I’ve passed.
I chose manual due to the fact I learnt in that car and I was perusing a manual licence. Since then I have become aware of the fact that the 9.3 second 0-62(0-100kph) was measured from a very good shifter, I’d like to say I’m a good driver for the experience I have but I’m averaging 10.5-11s 0-60.
That’s only one of the reasons I have chose the 2026 Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo 116 dsg, it has the absolute same engine but the interior is beautiful compared to the se edition.
I have put 1700 miles on the se edition and I will be using that as a trade in with another £5000 on top to get a brand new Monte Carlo.
I came on here to see if anyone has any objections or questions as it’s been a very 50/50 response from my peers, some think it’s ridiculous to pay that much when I haven’t even drove for over 2 months yet, some think going to a dsg this early into my driving journey will hinder me in the future.
Either way I will be buying this car, I was just hoping to get a second pair of eyes on this and their opinion.
Thank you.

Hey guys, I went through a crazy weight loss journey over the past few years, and I wanna skim over it so you get the full story.
2024-
Was very big and unhappy so tried loosing weight, went from 23 stone (146kg) to 19.13 stone (126kg) anddddd gained it all back
2025-
Sick of being fat and having 0 muscle mass did a big cut -1200cals went from 23 stone (146kg) down to 15 stone (96kg) was very happy but wanted to be stronger
2026- (now)
Stayed around 96kg for a while but wanted higher weight at the gym, so a month ago I did a dirty bulk, went from 100kg bench to 130kg deadlift from 175kg to 210kg but now I weigh 16.9 stone (105kg) and want to start Bjj which I need to be lean for.
Now to the main issue.
I’ve hit a mental barrier, every time I get a week into my cut again I go back to the dirty hulking habits such as late night snacking, bigger portions ect.
I need help on how to surpass this mental block and get back to around 94-88kg. Any tips, I don’t care about loosing PB’s I’ve fallen out of love with ego lifting.
