[For Sale] Complete HTC Shift X9500 with rare Nordic keyboard and original box

I’m selling my HTC Shift X9500 from 2008. It is the rare Nordic/Danish keyboard version and comes with the original presentation box, charger, cables, protective case, earphones and the accessories shown in the listing.

The unit has only been powered on twice and is otherwise unused, in exceptionally well-preserved open-box collector condition. Windows Vista Business and SnapVUE have both been tested and are working. The original battery only holds charge briefly, as expected for its age.

Update: eBay completed its account verification, found no issues and reinstated my selling account. The new listing is now live. Located in Denmark, with tracked shipping available. Asking €399, with offers enabled:

I built a guided rooting and privacy tool for the BOOX Note Air 5C

I’ve been working on a rooting assistant for the Note Air 5C and have now tested the complete process on my own tablet.

The goal was to make the process approachable without hiding the dangerous parts. It uses an arrow-key menu, checks the device and firmware before writing anything, creates a private EDL backup, patches the tablet’s own boot image with Magisk, verifies every write, and resumes from checkpoints when Android setup or a factory reset requires manual input.

It currently supports Windows, Linux, and macOS. I have personally completed the full process on firmware 4.2.1, build rel_0702_038ed12af. Other firmware versions are rejected unless explicitly overridden.

I also added an optional privacy section. It can:

  • Audit installed BOOX packages and network settings
  • Block known BOOX/Onyx endpoints
  • Reversibly remove unwanted bundled apps
  • Systemlessly hide selected factory APKs
  • Apply a “Vendor Lockdown” that blocks direct internet access for detected BOOX package UIDs
  • Restore the previous package, firewall, and launcher state
  • Clean up the home screen by moving BOOX apps into a Tool folder

The privacy feature is deliberately described as defense in depth, not a magical guarantee that every third-party app can never contact infrastructure in China.

Important warning: unlocking the tablet resets it and erases local data. Rooting can also cause boot problems, affect warranty coverage, break Play Integrity, interfere with banking or streaming apps, and complicate OTA updates. Please read the README and make an external backup before trying anything.

The project, documentation, source code, test suite, and a screenshot of the final home screen are here:

https://github.com/andershfranzen/note-air-5c-root

I’d really appreciate feedback, especially from anyone with a different Note Air 5C firmware version. If you try it, please read through the safety notes first and don’t publish the private backup folder it creates. It's early days, and I will continue to improve it.

New extension: Gnomex Bar - Keep track of your AI usage (CodexBar port)

https://preview.redd.it/3q18s7e6ddbh1.png?width=390&format=png&auto=webp&s=37d2aa3b0b5c8b8de1d5ff05718b694f66588fd9

Hi all,

I recently switched back from MacOS to Ubuntu, and I quickly started missing the CodexBar-app (https://codexbar.app/) made by Peter Steinberger, so I decided to create a faithful port to Gnome.

I did indeed use AI for parts of it, so a disclaimer there. The extension is of course entirely free, MIT and Open Source.

Features

  • Panel meter — a two-lane bar icon in the top panel. With one provider it shows the session and weekly windows; with exactly two providers, each lane shows one provider in its brand color (Codex blue, Claude orange).
  • Per-provider cards — session/weekly/monthly quota windows with progress bars, reset times, and pace analysis ("9% in reserve · lasts until reset").
  • Overview tab — all enabled providers at a glance, one click to drill in.
  • Follows your system theme — the popup switches between light and dark automatically with the OS color scheme, live, no restart needed.
  • Brand-colored bars — each provider's meters use its brand color throughout the popup and panel icon.
  • Display modes — show quota remaining (default) or used.
  • Configurable refresh — automatic background updates on your interval.
  • Quick actions — jump to a provider's usage dashboard, status page, or changelog straight from the popup.

I'd really appreciate it if you'd give it a try and a star on GitHub. It'll be continuously updated as CodexBar get's updated.

I updated Lumivue. A clean, no-subscription, no bullshit IPTV player for Mac/Windows/Linux. One-time $4.99, 3 day trial, no accounts, active dev (Xstream, STALKER, M3U etc.) 🫡

3 DAY TRIAL PERIOD! PRICE DROPPED TO 4.99 USD! A TON OF NEW FEATURES.

Most IPTV players are rough. They charge you monthly for the privilege, drown you in ads, or look like a weekend project that got abandoned a year ago. I wanted one that felt like an actual app without the shadyness, so I built it. It's called Lumivue.

Plug in your playlist information and you're watching inside a minute. It's quick, it looks the part, and it does everything a full media app should.

What you get:

  • Xstream, Stalker, M3U compatability.
  • Live TV with a real EPG (now/next and the full guide, updating on its own)
  • Movies and series with full artwork, plots, cast and episode thumbnails, pulled from TMDB
  • a channel switcher inside the player, so you flip channels without leaving the video
  • Continue Watching that lands on your exact spot
  • a home screen that surfaces continue watching, top rated and recently added
  • favorites for single channels or entire categories
  • one search box across live, movies and series
  • hide the hundreds of junk categories providers throw at you, and search the rest
  • profiles for everyone in the house, each with their own favorites and history
  • subtitles via OpenSubtitles (Bring your own API-key)
  • skip intro, recap and credits via TheIntroDB (Bring your own API-key)
  • Chromecast
  • picture-in-picture, fullscreen, quality selection, keyboard shortcuts
  • backup and restore, so you move your whole setup to another machine in seconds
  • auto updates
  • mac, windows and linux 💪🏽

The deal: 4.99 USD, paid once. No subscription, ever. No ads, no account, no upsells. One license per machine and every update is free. You bring your own provider, Lumivue is the player and nothing else.

It's an Electron-based app, so standard h264/aac streams are flawless but some h265 or ac3 channels won't play yet (that's next on my list). And the mac build is only apple silicon for now.

This is not a money-grab or another AI-slop player. I'm the developer, I'm active, and I move fast. Subtitles, backup/restore and a codec additions all landed this week. You report it, I fix it 🫡

I updated Andromeda, my macOS menu bar app for XREAL One Pro glasses 🚀

Hi fellow AR/XR enthusiasts,

A little while ago I posted about Andromeda, a macOS top-bar app I built for the XREAL One Pro glasses.

The response and feedback from the first users was honestly really encouraging, so I’ve kept working on it and wanted to share a proper update.

For anyone who missed the first post: I originally made Andromeda because I use my XREAL One Pro glasses with my MacBook Pro, and I was frustrated that there was no good native macOS app for quickly changing glasses settings, switching work profiles, or controlling UltraWide modes without digging through the glasses menu every time.

So I spent a slightly unreasonable amount of time reverse-engineering the control protocol and built a small native macOS app around it.

Since then, Andromeda has grown quite a bit.

It now supports:

  • macOS menu bar control for XREAL One Pro
  • Saved profiles for different setups, incl. custom profiles
  • Brightness, lens tint and color temperature
  • UltraWide controls directly from macOS
  • 21:9, 16:18, and 32:9 UltraWide options
  • A new "Curved" toggle, so you can choose flat (Unique feature to Andromeda) or curved UltraWide
  • Wear detection toggle
  • Space stabilizer toggle
  • Hardware recentering
  • Recenter hotkey
  • Display mode switching
  • Extend / Mirror controls
  • Quick Actions for recentering, reconnecting, and forcing the control link
  • Better diagnostics when the glasses are detected but the control link fails

The biggest new thing is probably the Curved UltraWide toggle. This allows you to use all ultrawide modes as either a flat or a curved screen, providing much more flexibility. This is unique to Andromeda.

You can get Andromeda here:

https://afive.dev/andromeda

It’s still a one-time purchase, and all future updates are included.

Thanks again to everyone who gave feedback, tested things, or suggested features. If there’s something you wish the XREAL glasses could do better on macOS, let me know. I’m still actively working on this.

Have a nice day!

I've built a MacOS native app for the XREAL One Pro 🌌

Hi fellow AR/XR enthusiasts,

I recently bought a pair of XREAL One Pro glasses to use with both my Macbook Pro for work, and my ASUS ROG Ally X with SteamOS for gaming. I was a bit saddened to see that there was no existing MacOS app for the glasses, allowing you to change settings on the fly, have profiles depending on the work you'd do etc., and I could see that "Nebula" was basically dead in the water.

This led me to spend (an unhealthly amount of) time on trying to reverse-engineer the signals sent between the XREAL One Pro glasses and my laptop, making it possible for me to build the signals to change the settings directly from my Macbook Pro.

The result is "Andromeda" (yes, it's a play on Nebula), which is a top-bar app that allows you to easily control and manage your XREAL glasses directly from the top-bar of your Mac.

If you interested, you can buy it on my website here:
https://afive.dk/andromeda

All future updates are included in the price, of course.

If you have ideas for new features etc., just let me know, and I'll do my best! 😄

Have a nice day! (Perhaps a native SteamOS plugin is next?)
