Routing midi out to different synths

OK, so I have a little jam kit going I typically use my 303 (donner b1) to be the master midi clock, it has both midi out and hardware sync then I two other desktop synths one as a hardware sync and one I chain of the novation circuit midi through.

I generally use the circuit for drums and pads. I would like to do a project where I use the novation circuit to control the synths. I find the patterns to be limited. I would like to be able to switch between the synths one for solo jamming. Also I would like to use the B1 as a solo instrument and use a circuit synth as the bass.

Any ideas on how to configure this. The circuit doesn't seem to want to swap midi channels on the fly.??

What lens for Basketball?

Are there any hidden sleeper lenses for basketball. Right now, I'm just doing photos and videos of my kids so elementary school, middle school, and high school gyms maybe some tournaments in ugly field houses or those commercial industrial warehouses they convert to basketball training facilities.

I'm all in on APSC, but there are many options. (If you haven't figured it out yet, bringing your GM to the party, isn't appreciated.)

So, the question is what would be a good 50mm/56mm? I have most the other focal lengths covered.

I would just go look up the measurements in opticallimits or sonyalphablog, but the thing is they never really measure autofocus all that well.

I'm wondering if a f1.7 with fast AF would be worth considering over a faster f1.4. The thing is I kind of want both, fast AF and to be able to blow out the background in those gyms. Though I do have other lenses I can do that with like 33 f1.4 or an 85 f1.4, so like if it could give me eye AF on a full speed layup, I think I could get away with an f1.7. I kind of suspect the budget tier faster lenses won't be able to keep up here with af.

How can I go from an audio click(square wave of some sort) to an analog clock?

I want to sync my synthesizers with my turntable rig. I'm using mixxx, one option I feel might be worth exploring is to have add a deck to mixxx that plays a pulse, then convert that pulse to an analogue clock. I've already tried running a square wave line audio into the clock of the donner b1, but it didn't seem to pick up on it. I get that the line audio is essentially a type of AC and the clock is actually DC, so one of the legs is a ground.

My turntable setup is Mixxx on a raspberry pi, so in theory I can do a combination of software to go to a gpio pin to trigger the clock. Would a 3v clock signal work or would I need additional circuitry.

One thing that isn't clear to me is what the pulse width of the clock should be.

Is there an easier way to do this, maybe something that just triggers a clock.

WNBA courts look so nice

Why do the WNBA courts look so nice? I've been watching them; they stream on Amazon prime. It seems like the arenas look much better on TV than the NBA. Is it because they are a little smaller and also newer, maybe built better for TV streaming in the first place? Or maybe the players are just more photogenic in the first place.

How is the Knicks win going to influence your coaching

As with any win, I suspect we'll see lots of imitations. I think the Knicks having that small guard lineup is going to be especially popular. What can we look forward to seeing in youth teams this coming year?

What do you all use for carrying your equipment?

I am thinking about upgrading my camera carrying bag. I think I want a hardcase. I like to carry about a dozen manual primes 14-135 they are smallish and light weight. Then I have several larger wide angle and specialty, 10mm f.28, fisheye, 35mm T/S, and a telephoto 200m manual oftentimes these have to stay at home, I can keep going up in size, but I don't think the 400mm is feasible to fit. An autofocus lens. I keep a number of clamps and mounts. Two apsc sony cameras and a go pro style with a waterproof case a variety of filters, a flash, back up batteries, light calibration tools, and lens/sensor maintenance cleaners.

I'm curious if there are any lens collectors out there and what kind of system you're using. I have a 10x11x15 camera gear bag, that I sort of pile everything into. I use a towel to help keep things separated and clean.

I was thinking a hardcase with a tray, where I can cut into foam outlines for each of the lenses, so they end up the same place each time. I can't seem to find a hardcase like that. Maybe a big flat "gun case" style hardcase, I feel that would be awkward to use and look weird at events.

What do you all use?

Pass the ball around, wear the zone out.

One of the conventional tactics for countering zones is to pass the ball around and wear the zone out. Is that what we're seeing with the Knicks vs Spurs?

Swing Players against Zone Defense

How do swing players shake out against a zone. By swing I mean Bigs that like to handle the ball on the perimeter (*caugh* Holmgern). His plight against the spurs got me to thinking. These types of players tend manage their matchups like this. If you put a faster smaller player on them they go post them up so they get away with relatively light pressure from bigs who are slower on the perimeter.

The thing is in a zone this doesn't work. On the perimeter they are guarded by faster guards, move into the post they are guarded by a big.

I'm curious if there is a solution for these types of players in zones, or if they are basically just relegated to standard archetypes.

Correcting vignetting or not how important is a lens that doesn't digitally correct this?

I've been shopping for a 35mm with autofocus. Certain manufacturers (we won't name who) seem to have a philosophy that vignetting should be digitally corrected. These same manufacturers also sell much more expensive versions of lenses that optically correct for some reason. None-the-less I got to thinking about it. Does correcting vignetting digitally reduce the dynamic range of sensor. I mean if you have a lens that natively vignettes one stop that is corrected in the body, doesn't that remove a stop of dynamic range in the shadows and highlights?

Also, won't resampling for chromatic aberration reduce effective resolution at least in the edges?

NBA is in the Zone

The Western conference finals were pretty interesting this year. You don't often get to see a clash of styles and genuine mismatches in the NBA. All other levels of basketball have been using zones in these mismatch and transition since the beginning it's good to see the NBA actually play zones. I was kind of disappointed in OKC's performance. It looked like the Spurs sort of cracked OKC's offense. I mean we all know OKC is more of a counter attacking team that lives on transition and in half-court offense lives with tough shots and or foul shots. But I've been saying this for a while. The 2-3 zone is pretty much the ideal antidote to transition teams and has it's own strengths in transition. Which were on full display when the Spurs blitzed OKC for extended periods like twenty to zero scoring.

It kind of left me wondering if OKC is going to have to face this kind of zoning more often next year. I mean game one they were clearly not prepared for the 2-3 zone they kept driving into the lane then dribbling out while all the perimeter players stood their and watched. The second game they looked like they actually had a game plan. Passing into the high post then wings flashed, then attacking players closing out in the wings on the perimeters with screens and what not. By the end though they looked pretty much just like game one. Driving into the middle "nothing" passing out "nothing", doing around the world, close out, close out, close out, late contested three. They need to figure out how to not run that play. The perimeter players weren't moving or doing anything to make close outs harder. I don't know maybe it was a Spurs counter adjustment; they called it doubling SGA, but it just looked like a trapping 2-3 zone to me.

Game 1 Spurs v OKC futile driving

Was anyone else annoyed by the Spurs game plan. Like they knew Wemby was in the paint, but they kept dribble penetrating just to dribble right back out. How many times did they do that? They're like "Look Ma! I can dribble penetrate", when did they realize that like, the Spurs were giving that to them? They're like come on in, talk to Wemby, be my guest. They knew Wemby was in the paint, they were going to cover the shooters in the corner, but they kept driving and kicking in many cases it just got intercepted.

IMO they need to do one of two things get some bodies in the post, cut off some of Wemby's angles, that guy in the corner isn't doing anything, they have shown they can cover him. The Spurs need a t-shirt that says "Kick Me I like it". If they want to get perimeter threes, they're going to have to have perimeter actions move and set screens "on the perimeter".

Getting downhill and spacing out don't make any sense, they're just giving Wemby all this space to operate and basically going one on one with him in the post. That is a fail.

Off Arm in Post Up Moves

I am wondering about how much you can use the off arm in the post. I am thinking like the swim moves on the perimeter. For example, when I post up often times a player will use an arm bar(or as often as not two hands), can swim over that? I know I can't swipe it away, but I'm thinking I can just place my arm in a certain way to make their options limited, get them on my hip or make them retreat by taking their arm bar off voluntarily either with or without the ball.

I've been following the Lakers v Rockets series. I've seen LeBron do a number of "one touch" passes where he's just batting the ball around. Like I haven't seen him do that before. Not like Jokic's one arm water polo moves, looks like he's playing volleyball out there or something. The first play of the series it looked like he just turned it over like didn't care or something, but there he was in the comeback game three win. Batting it back and forth with Kennard.

I wonder why he's doing that. It looks like maybe he's having some sort of issues with his hands, or are they deliberate one touch passes? Maybe he doesn't even realize he's doing it.
