“We will NEVER have an article in Rolling Stone.”

Relistening to Mark Twitchell for the first time in a MINUTE, and Henry mentions the band Threatn and says that LPOTL will never have an article in Rolling Stone. Ben chimes in to say that nobody reads it anyway.

Anyway.

how to get involved with election support?

(Mods, I promise this is NOT a partisan post!)

I want more than anything to do my part in making sure that Los Angelenos of every shade, stripe, and background are able to exercise their right to vote (and have that vote counted) without fear for themselves or their families. Doesn't matter who they're voting for (at least when it comes to their right to do so), I just want to help make sure the process is as fair and safe as possible.

However, I'm not sure where to start. What is the best way to show up for my community and their safety? I'm already looking into becoming an Election Worker, but I'm not sure if that's the most affective thing I can do. Looking for any recs, suggestions, or directional advice on how to go about this. Thank you!

"Damn you and your jealous questions, you don't own me!"

In a show full of brilliance, this might be my favorite line delivery of all time.

The entire episode is in my top ten, but the minor beat of Niles being Martin's "boyfriend" is beyond funny. Every single second of its onscreen existence makes me laugh with a different detail. From Martin's "DARLING!" when Niles comes in, to Niles' ire that they think the best he can do is "an old man with a cane," to the way Niles looks Martin up and down and narrows his eyes before "And I'm keeping the jewelry" - and of course, the line in the title of this post. Absolute magic.

Contemporary fantasy where the protagonist STARTS as a part of the world

Hi all - I would love some recs for stories that have fantasy elements (magic, creatures, quests, etc.) and are set in the real world, but where the protagonist is already a member/aware of the fantasy elements when the book starts.

A lot of books kick off with an outsider protagonist finding their way into a new secret magic world. Think Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Legendborn (I know that's an eclectic mix, it's just the first three that came into my head). That outsider status makes the info dump of the magic world and its rules, lore, stakes, etc. a lot easier. But I'd love to read some stuff where the main character (and thus the reader) is already integrated into the fantasy stuff when the story begins, and the background is introduced to the reader another way.

Thank you in advance!

SUBMISSION: Geffen Writers' Room

Has anybody heard back yet? They say they're going to reach out to people in June and I'm wondering if I should still be holding out hope or not.
