What worked for you for shin splints?

I started having pain in my left shin 5-6 weeks back. Consulted a doctor, he mentioned it is shin splints. Havent run for 6 weeks now, still pain is there although not severe. Consulted a physio 2 weeks and have been doing calf and quad strengthening exercises as per his feedback. Just frustrated that it is still not going away and I cant start running yet.

Curious what has worked for others and how did you get back to running and how long it took

I always felt Bolt could've run even faster if he didn't celebrate mid-race and ease off at the finish. I believe he also thought he could have run faster, what do you think?
