Drivetrain skipping/slipping when starting to pedal – new to e-MTB

Hi everyone,

I'm new to e-MTBs and I'm trying to figure out an issue with my bike. I recently bought a Bianchi T-Tronik Sport 9.1 (2024). It's a used bike with only around 700 km on it. It has a Shimano E7000 motor and Shimano Deore drivetrain.

The problem is that when I start pedaling from a standstill, the pedals sometimes suddenly spin forward without resistance for a split second, and then the drivetrain catches again with a noticeable clunk.

It usually happens around 2–3 times when I first start pedaling. Once I'm moving faster and riding in higher gears, it seems to work better. The cassette looks fine and I don't see any obviously damaged teeth. The chain is clean and lubricated. I posted a video where you can hear the clunking.

I'm new to e-MTBs, so I'm not sure whether this is something normal or an actual mechanical problem.

Any ideas what I should check first? Is this something I should stop riding until it's checked, or could it be a relatively normal adjustment issue? Thanks!

Looking for open minded people in or around Winterswijk.

Hey everyone!

I'm Adrian, 35, recently moved to Winterswijk.

I'm looking for people who enjoy genuine friendships, whether that's going for a hike, biking, playing a game, or just having one of those conversations where you suddenly realize it's 2 AM.

I'm pretty introverted, so don't expect me to be the loudest person in the room. I'm more of a one-on-one conversation kind of person than someone who competes to see who can talk the most.

My interests are hiking, just got into MTB, nature, meditation, philosophy, and anything that makes you question reality. UFOs/UAPs, consciousness, Skinwalker Ranch, crop circles, near-death experiences, Gateway Tapes... I love exploring those topics.

I don't drink or smoke. A few times a year I take part in psychedelic ceremonies for self-exploration rather than partying.

I also share my home with two Maine Coons, I love all sorts of animal.

If you're empathetic, open-minded, enjoy a bit of humor, and don't mind comfortable silences as much as deep conversations, feel free to send me a message. Age and gender doesn't matter as long as you resonate with my post. Also if you are not from the Achterhoek area but you are interested I'm willing to have a texting buddy. ✌️

Lastly, I speak communicative Dutch, but for the deeper topics I mentioned I'd probably switch to English. It's simply easier to express myself. Cheers!
