Cube Hybrid - Reaction or Stereo

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice as I’ll be getting a new e-bike soon, but I’m having a hard time deciding what type to go for. I’m coming from an older 2017 Trek with a Bosch CX motor and a coil-sprung front fork, so it’s definitely time for an upgrade.

At the moment, I’m mainly considering either a Reaction Hybrid 800 Race or SLX, or a Stereo Hybrid ONE44 HPA EX or EXC. I might also consider the ONE22 (not HPC since its hard to get proper mudguards).

Mudguards and a rear rack are important to me, as the bike will also be used for commuting to work. It’s only a short commute of around 10 minutes, though, so that’s not really where the decision gets difficult. It’s when I’m out riding on forest roads and trails that full suspension starts to look very tempting.

One thing I’m wondering about is maintenance. How much more maintenance and upkeep should I realistically expect with a Stereo compared with a Reaction? I understand that there’s obviously a rear shock and pivots/bearings to look after, but is the difference significant in real-world ownership?

I’d really appreciate any thoughts or experiences, especially from anyone who has had to make a similar choice between a hardtail and a full-suspension eMTB.

Drivetrain skipping/slipping when starting to pedal – new to e-MTB

Hi everyone,

I'm new to e-MTBs and I'm trying to figure out an issue with my bike. I recently bought a Bianchi T-Tronik Sport 9.1 (2024). It's a used bike with only around 700 km on it. It has a Shimano E7000 motor and Shimano Deore drivetrain.

The problem is that when I start pedaling from a standstill, the pedals sometimes suddenly spin forward without resistance for a split second, and then the drivetrain catches again with a noticeable clunk.

It usually happens around 2–3 times when I first start pedaling. Once I'm moving faster and riding in higher gears, it seems to work better. The cassette looks fine and I don't see any obviously damaged teeth. The chain is clean and lubricated. I posted a video where you can hear the clunking.

I'm new to e-MTBs, so I'm not sure whether this is something normal or an actual mechanical problem.

Any ideas what I should check first? Is this something I should stop riding until it's checked, or could it be a relatively normal adjustment issue? Thanks!

Road Mountain Bike?

Dumbest thing. I bought a Cannondale Moterra 1 (like a top spec e mountain bike) and it came with a sticker that says its not designed for off-road use.

Am i missing something?

Tero 5.0 not cutting it on the trails. Looking for a full suspension bike for a shorter rider (5’3). Amflow PR Carbon vs. LEVO 4.0 vs. Aventon ADV Current? Help with deciding what would work.

Couple years ago I bought my first eMTB and I didn’t think I needed a full suspension bike so I got the Tero (hardtail). Fast forward 2 years and I found that I really enjoy trail riding more than I thought. I do ride my bike about 8-10 miles each way on the road to get to the trails which is fine with the Tero but I find that I am frequently bashing the rear wheel on rocks and roots to the point that I can feel the tire bottoming out at times. I’ve played with pressures and if I air up the tire more it really bounces around and is too harsh. I am entertaining the idea of trading (up?) to one of the 3 bikes listed (open to other bikes too). My biggest hurdle is my height, at 5’3” (140lbs) I struggle with stand over height but not necessarily the reach. Does anyone who has experience with one or more of these bikes have some input/direction for me as to what might work well for my height and riding style. As a note, I am 56 I am not hucking off jumps but like to carry speed through the trails. Pic of the 5.0 for fun.

Budget (under $1.5k US)

Hey guys, I'm looking to possibly get into emtb, I used to mountain bike as a kid (25+ years ago), and looking to get into something budget friendly that I won't be upset with the purchase if I don't follow through for too long, just looking to get out into the woods/trails in Southern California and maybe get some exercise that's enjoyable while at it.

Also, don't want to piss the wife off with a big purchase. lol

2023 yeti 160e

Good day. I am currently considering a 2023 yeti 160e as my first emtb. It's coming with maven brakes and ohlins shox with 1300miles on the Shimano ep8 motor. Is this a good buy at $4500 or should I get something newer. Keep in mind that this is kinda out of my budget but might be able to afford it. Other newer bikes have less specs that why I was looking for something with higher specs for Enduro riding. Thanks again

Crussis e-Country Full - have anyone tried it ?

Hello,

I'm selling my GF Crussis one full 9.9 29" L since it's oversized. I have to find a replacement around 3k euro full suspension 750-800Wh battery.

When we are together we ride some sort of XC style. I managed to find this bike quite interesting because it might be stable and comfy to get on and off. Has anyone tried it how ot rides and feels ? it's not the cheapest one.

edit : thanks guys

Storage in garden shed - freezing winters (~ -10C / 15F)

I am planning to buy a new eBike, most likely with an Avinox M2S with a fixed battery. I store my current bike in a ventilated garden shed. In summer the outside temperate is 20C (70F) but with recent heat weaves we get to 33C (90F). This should be fine - it may just accelerate the aging of battery.

What I worry more is storage (not charging!) in the winter where temperatures can go below -10C (15F), and few days it can go to -15C (5F) or lower. Li-ion chemistry should be totally fine with those temperatures in storage and actually it will significantly slow down the aging process of the battery. But Avinox lists the storage temperature range above freezing point (0C) - up to 40C (105F). Would freezing temps damage something in the electronic part or is Avinox just being cautious and it will be completely fine?

I am aware that charging a battery below freezing temps will damage it - in that case I would use a heating pad or bring the bike in. And yes a removable battery would be the best solution but the trend is now integrated batteries and the removable batteries weight considerably more / and have other downsides.

I don't really want to take up space at my home with a bike during winter.

New Amflow PR Carbon rattling downhill

Last week i got the Amflow PR Carbon and took my first round the next day.
Uphill I was very surprised by the power, but downhill unfortunately came the great awakening. It rattles like in a large kitchen. At the back the seat post rattles (see video) and at the front in the upper- or downtube the cables should be loosely pulled through (read that somewhere about the first bikes from Amflow). Does anyone have the same problem with the bike and are there already solutions for that?
Thank you and please excuse my bad English.

Do I need all that power?

I'm looking to buy my first Ebike but cannot decide on what bike.

You need as much power as possible seems to be what I constantly hear from riding mates who already have ebikes (Bosch CX and Avinox) but I have found a bike that is a killer price, very good components and long travel like I want the reason I'm cautious is 85nm Shimano EP801 motor and 712w battery.

I live in western Australia, we don't have mountains we have slight bumps in the surface so I will not be doing long climbs with huge elevation, more so short but steep climbs to get to the top of DH trails I enjoy riding rather than pushing the bike up. Probably 30-50km ride days.

Have previously ridden a Shimano equipped Norco Sight 85nm/600w battery and that ran out of battery before mates Amflow did and also rode a Specialised Levo carbon in Tasmania. Both bikes I enjoyed riding and felt had enough power.

Am I overthinking this? Should I just get the EP801 bike with spec I like or will I be unhappy and regret not buying a 120nm Bosch or Avinox bike?

Help buying a byke

I'm 5'9 160lbs on a good day, my partner is 5'4 130lbs. Looking to buy 2 well-rounded eMTBs.
We mostly ride scenic dirt trails with climbs/ descents.

We want to occasionally hit bike parks but we're not into big jumps, drops or super aggressive riding that might get us hurt.
I'm leaning hardtail because of the lighter weight, lower price and less maintanence and I like the idea of sticking to reputable brands (Trek, Specialized, Giant) but I'm open to all suggestions.

I originally wanted used, but the selection (especially for size Small) isn't great and prices don't seem worth it. Battery/motor longevity and discontinuation also worry me, which has me looking more at Bosch systems.

At this point I'm considering used, dealer pre-owned, or even older new stock like 2023/2024 models. Mainly wondering what bikes you guys would look at for this type of riding and whether buying a few years old is worth

What's the etiquette regarding right of way when you encounter an eMTB?

I'm gravelbiking in the Alpes often on quite technical trails at the limit of my bike and encountering quite a few people on eMTBs who could never have made it up otherwise. Who has the right of way? Imho the unassisted cyclist should have the right of way both up and down since it's just much harder choosing the right line and/or maintaining momentum for eg a gravel bike compared to an eMTB which also tends to have much wider tyres.

teewing battery extender, Volabike

I wanted to know if anyone has any information on the Volabike battery extender as to the quality and or issues of this company? I have a 1st generation Teewing , and its a great bike. The only issue is the range is a little short, 35 miles of moderate pedaling in florida ,is as far as it goes. The DJI RS480 will not fit due to the shock placement. Volabike has a teewing pictured with one of their batteries mounted to the downtube. i do not care if it voids the warranty. My options are get the Vola range extender or sell the Teewing and get an amflow. The Vola battery is 500. eur ,plus Trump tax, plus shipping. Any comments would be appreciated. I bought it from Darren at Drip Ebikes ( he is a really good person) i will also talk to him this week. EDIT, i am 70, that's too old to pedal through soft sand
