NBD!

NBD!

Specialized Turbo Levo 4.This is my first E-Bike and I love it.

It was a hard choice between the Levo and a Vala AL Deore.

I've gone about 100 Kilometers on it (60 miles ish) on it since I got it yesterday and I don't see my poor trek roscoe getting all that much attention for awhile!

Stick of Twist on the Amflow PR Carbon

So, I’ve pre-ordered an Amflow PR carbon back in mid-April, however, the sketchy and mixed information coming out about distribution in the UK is starting to leave me feeling quite anxious about when I’ll actually get it (hearing as late as November this year).

The reason I ordered this bike was primarily due to the Avinox motor, however, it seems more and more other brands (Orbea, Canyon, Propain etc) are releasing bikes with this motor as well. So I guess my question is, should I remain patient with Amflow or should I potentially look at cancelling my order and explore other options?

New Valas are popping up everywhere, here's mine

Santa Cruz Vala 1 Al Deore

Picked this one up earlier this week after my Canyon Spectral:ON broke again, another bad battery-motor cable. It's under warranty but got an estimated delivery time for next January.

Took off all the good bits from my old bike: Magura Gustavs, Fox 38, and DT Swiss HX1700 wheelset that happened to have fresh Eddy Current / Magic Mary radials as well.

This bike absolutely rips. It's amazing how much lighter it feels compared to the Canyon when riding, even though on paper it's a bit heavier. Bonus points for sensible cable routing, unlike a lot of bikes these days.

Definitely want to get an XT shifter for the double upshifts, still wondering if I should upgrade the shock as well or not.

NBD! Trek Rail+ 9.7 Gen 5

New bike day probably is the best day. Just picked up this Trek Rail+ 9.7 Gen 5 and went for a ride, I'm absolutely stoked. Riding mostly technical single track trails in Sweden with plenty of roots, rocks, granite slabs, and the occasional questionable line choice. The plan is simple: ride more, climb, further, buy fewer bike parts (unlikely). Can't wait to get it dirty again tomorrow. Cheers from Sweden 🇸🇪

New bike day!

Picked up a 2026 Santa Cruz Vala 1 AL Eagle 70 for $5,080 ($5600 after tax!) on sale the other day- amazing bike! Sadly I need a new dropper housing run (oem housing was too short for my new post) so it will be in the shop tomorrow to run it around the battery and motor, but it is such a huge upgrade over my Salsa Moraine Cues 10 that finally threw an untraceable electrical error after 200 miles on the fazua system. Bike rides incredible and feels amazing on the PNW dirt! Excited to get out more on it once the install is done.

Added PNW range bars, PNW loam pedals, PNW XL loam Grips, an Ergon saddle, and having the shop install a loam lever and the PNW range post tomorrow morning. I also have a blue ridgelines frame keeper and blue fork decals coming from groundskeeper designs this week. Super stoked!

Originally on sale for $5,649 but both the Evo salesman and I were both surprised that the extra 10% off bikes applied to sale items, so before tax it came out to $5,080 and was still under $5650 with tax. Couldn’t pass it up!

Bosch Gen3 motor has damage to a nylon gear according to my local bike shop, but he said they aren't allowed to open the motor to repair it.

Does anyone know an address in Europe (ideally close to Belgium) that does these repairs?
In my riding group, there's also a guy whose gen4 motor died after riding through heavy rain, any clues if there's a fix? Both are 2y out of warranty

Levo Gen 3 Expert or Gen 4 Comp Alloy. What would you pick?

2025 Levo Expert $5000
2026 Levo Comp Alloy $6750

Both new with warranty from bike shop.

What would you pick? I am at 210lb so the Expert suspension is convincing. I am somewhat concerned about the motor failures in gen 3, but local bike shop is happy to repair and says turn around is quick. I am at best a blue trail rider, and will mostly be using it on longer trail climbs and fire roads around California. I do want reasonable suspension in the case my skills improve.

Yeti 160e vs. Turbo Levo vs. Aventon Current....and is this even a good use case?

I've ridden Yetis for years, and I currently ride a lunch rided 115. Love it.

I'm moving to a new house where I'll have good paved trail access to all sorts of cool stuff, and I will also have the ability to go hit some good trails from those areas as well (this is northwest Arkansas). So I'm considering driving my car less and getting an ebike for transportation purposes. And if I'm doing that, why not get one that can also rip?

So, first off, can a big emtb serve that function well? I'm so used to thinking of big travel bikes as inefficient pedalers that it's sort of hard for me to get my brain around riding 10-12 miles roundtrip on a paved bike path regularly with one, but I see these people out on 4" fat bikes doing it all the time.

The added perk is that I can then pop over to some trail systems that are 5-7 miles from my house and normally would ride a little less often and get a few laps in just for the hell of it.

I'm a Yeti guy and probably always will be, and I've seen some decent used deals on the 160e. I realize it may not have the latest and greatest batteries and motor, but I'm not into the "more power is better" thing. I've never even owned an ebike, so the idea of adding 250-600w to the equation is just mind boggling. I can't imagine needing 1500.

But is the 160e a good option for this? Or should I consider the Specialized or Aventon? I personally love Yeti suspensions, and the bikes are so much fun to ride. But I am open to other options. I really care about handling characteristics, and my trail use would probably be a good bit of blacks at Coler or Slaughter Pen or even the Oz Bike Park. Since my regular ride is an XC/trail bike, I'd probably have fun hitting spicy stuff fast with this.

Thanks in advance.

Buying an emtb without a test ride

I'm looking to buy my first eMTB but my local shops don't stock bikes in my size. I'm 6'5" and around 250lbs without gear. My budget is up to US$8500 (~$12,000CDN). I ride mostly technical climbs with very short downhill sections over rocks and roots with very little flow. I'm a novice rider in my 50s and I have to walk a lot of the climbs so I'm looking for a full power, full suspension eMTB.

Considering I am not able to test ride a bike before buying and I'd like to buy a bike in the next few weeks what bike would you suggest I order?

I'm not committed to a particular motor and I think any of the Avinox, Bosch and Brose motors will be fine for me.

More details:

My most challenging ride has been 42km with 600m of ascent and 800m of descent.

I'm currently riding a Trek Fuel EX Gen 6 in size XXL. The friend I ride with has a Gen 3 Turbo Levo but I think it's a size S2 so I can't try it out. He has to stop at the top of climbs to wait for me.

I live in Winnipeg, Canada and none of my local stores have had any full suspension emtbs in my size for the past year. If I want a bike I have to order it without riding it first and special order bikes can't be returned so I own it once I've ordered it. I had to special order my current bike.

Several of the brands I've been considering don't have a local dealer. These brands are carried at my local shops - Specialized, Trek, Giant, Norco, Cannondale, Santa Cruz and Orbea. There is no local support for brands like Forbidden, Transition, Yeti, Amflow and Ari.

Orbea Wild LT H-TEAM is the bike I like the most based on the specs but I don't think I need 170mm of travel.

I really like the value of the Propain Ekano 3 but the delivery date is late October. Same idea with the new Ari Wire Peak 3. The Transition Regulator CX XT looks good but I've never even seen a Transition bike irl.

Specialized App is SHIT

I have a new S-Works Levo 4. The bike is absolutely fantastic in every way, I love it! What I cannot seem to figure out is how in the world to make the Specialized app consistently track/record rides.

I open the app, hit record - it’s connected to the bike. It will sometimes record time, but no distance. But most of the time it just stays stuck on “auto pause” so I tried turning auto pause off. Then it recorded time with no distance.

I deleted the app, reinstalled and setup. Connected. Thought it was working today as I pedaled around the lot before taking off on the trail, it recorded .10 miles but as soon as I locked my phone and put it in my hip pack, it stopped recorded distance. But it did record the time. Doesn’t make sense to me and it’s getting quite annoying.

It has successfully recorded 4-5 rides fine, but 80% of the time it’s not. I don’t understand why it’s not. Locations access is set to always allow.

Has anyone else experienced this? What’s the fix? Is there something that needs to be turned on within the bike’s interface?
