Travelling in first trimester
Did you travel long journeys alone in the second half of the first trimester?
Sorry for an unorganized and long post.
So I work from home mainly but have to travel to work once a month for 1-3 varying number of days. That's mandatory.
I am 7 weeks pregnant. This is my second pregnancy. First one was an IVF pregnancy and I had an early pregnancy scan at the clinic. This was when I was 35. Now I will be 40 end of this year. So this being natural conception is pure luck and at this age I feel I need to be more cautious. My travel includes airport transfers, flight and or train for 5-6 hours stretch one way carrying my bags with a much heavier company laptop. I am not very physically strong anyway.
Last month I took exception as my child was sick and home from nursery for the whole of the week. I have to go early next week for 2 days 1 night and then next month for 3 days when I will be 12 weeks. I haven't got a midwife assigned yet to discuss this.
I don't want to disclose my pregnancy yet but if I have to skip next week travel tomorrow is monthly catch-up with my boss. He has good feedback for my work but for such things I am sure he thinks I take way many exceptions than my peers who are mostly 55+ and mostly men including himself.
I am as it is anxious everyday due to fluctuating symptoms and my age constantly running at the back of my mind. On top of that travelling alone carrying bags sitting in uncomfortable work clothes for long hours is making me dread to go this month and the next. Worse of my anxiety is thinking what if I miscarry when in transit or in hotel / office in another city. I know I shouldn't have those thoughts but I know I won't be able to explain and my boss will not understand my anxiety. I feel sick in the train almost always and with although mild morning sickness I am scared of it more and more.
