First Marathon - Achievable?

I’ve just completed my first half marathon in a time of 2:15.

Like many runners a marathon is a dream goal to tick off, just the one (I’m sure you’ve heard that before, but seriously) to know that I’ve achieved that. I have been thinking about it and considering it for a while and the half was a stepping stone to that, although I’d love to do more of these in the future as my main race (after completing a marathon).

I am looking at potentially signing up for the Yorkshire marathon in mid October. Whilst the goal is obviously just to finish, a secondary goal would be under 5 hours. I’m contemplating using a run walk plan (this will be new to me), and I’ve done the calculations and based on the recommended paces this should be achievable although very aware things can go differently on the day.

One of the reasons I’m considering October is because I play football recreationally, games and training weekly. This was OK to manage with my half training, but would not be feasible with a marathon.

I was thinking that a marathon in October would allow me to completely focus on the marathon plan, as well as gym strength sessions (didn’t do these for the half), because the football season will not be on during the training period.

In the half I completed my cardio was completely fine throughout and I felt very comfortable in that way so I know I have a good base to build on there.
During the race the discomfort I felt was my knee and groin, which hadn’t given me trouble in training strangely. My pace and cadence held up throughout though. I felt OK the next day, a little stiff but no issues with stairs etc. I guess my question is - is June to October enough time to up to this distance, particularly my musculoskeletal system? I’m hoping the gym strength sessions will help in this regard.

Whilst this is ‘convenient’ for me I don’t want to sign up if this is a totally unachievable goal or puts me at a heightened risk of injury.

I’m a 41 year old female (if that matters).

TLDR; Half marathon this weekend 2:15, cardio held up very well but some knee and groin pain. Felt mostly ok the day after. Is June to October enough time to train (using a run walk plan) to a) finish a marathon b) finish under 5 hours, will be adding strength sessions in which I didn’t do for the half.

Thanks as always!

I’ve been scammed and wondering the likelihood of me getting my money back.

Bought Nike running trainers. When they arrived they felt significantly less comfortable than when I had tried them in store, which prompted me to look more closely.

Some of the details were different when comparing to the official Nike photos. They weighed a different amount, and I even went back into the store to try them in comparison and they were so much less comfortable.

Initiated an issue with the seller selecting counterfeit item and explained all this. The seller said they’d bought them from a third party website and the reason they were so cheap is because they had ‘flaws’. None of this had been included on the original advert.

From looking online it says I shouldn’t have returned them and Vinted should have investigated from here? However this is my first experience returning and I selected counterfeit and detailed the issue and was provided with a return label, so I did return them.

They went back to a post office and the seller waited till the very last day to collect and then opened a claim that they’d been sent a different item. Vinted asked for further evidence from me and will investigate. I’ve sent -

Original advert and message from seller which shows they didn’t mention any ‘flaws’.

Photos of the trainers I received and comparisons with Nike photos circling the differences.

Photos of the trainers I received from all angles.

Screenshots from a video I took of me wrapping them for return.

Screenshots of a video I took of me posting them for return, including the label.

I have advised I can provide these videos if required (no option to send videos through the app).

Seller was new, no feedback.

Although they were a ‘good’ price compared to RRP it was still a lot of money, and I’m worried about the outcome :(

My tenant is moving out in a couple of months, their own choice.

I’m an accidental landlord and managing myself. Will be selling up.

As I’m not with an agency I’m creating a move out checklist and wondered if there is anything else I should be including?

I have -

Address

Tenancy start and end dates

Tenant details and forwarding address

Deposit amount

Any damage

Anything missing from inventory

Any agreed deposit deductions

Meter readings

Date and signatures
