Sonos surround speaker losing sync over time on Unifi network
I'm experiencing a (new) strange bug with my Sonos Home Theatre setup.
My home theatre setup:
- Arc
- 2 x Ikea Symfonisk lamps as surrounds
- Sub Mini
In addition I have a bunch of other Sonos One's and a Five in my home.
One of the surrounds has started to slowly lose synchronisation when watching any content on the Apple TV streaming box (YouTube, Apple TV, Netflix, iPlayer, Prime, etc). I can be watching without any issue and then after about 45 minutes to an hour, it just goes out of sync and seems to be a micro second behind the centre channel. It's particularly noticeable on YouTube which tends not to have music or effects being pushed to the surrounds as a distraction.
Opening the Sonos app and toggling surround off and on again immediately fixes it.
All Sonos devices are fully up to date. Sonos app is fully up to date.
I have fairly recently upgraded my home network from the ISP supplied router to a Ubiquiti Unifi setup.
The Sonos devices are on their own IoT VLAN but have full 2.4 and 5GHz WiFi. The WAF allows the Apple TV box to 'talk' to them and for them to respond.
There is an AP in the same room. AP deployment shows as 'Good'.
Unifi dashboard reports my versions as:
- Network 10.4.57 Up to date
- UniFi OS 5.1.19 Up to date
- Devices Up to date
I've tried connecting the speaker which goes out of sync by ethernet and I've tried it on wireless. When it's connected via ethernet I've tried with wireless enabled and disabled.
The change of network is the only thing which is different, but I'm also aware the speaker is a few years old now so the network change might be a coincidence.
I have only recently had the disable SonosNet toggle appear on my Sonos app. I've now disabled SonosNet and will see if that makes a difference. However since the Q&A says:
>"No changes to your surrounds or Sub. They still connect directly to your primary soundbar exactly like they do today, with or without this setting. That low-latency link is its own thing and isn't part of SonosNet, so disabling SonosNet doesn't touch it."
I'm not expecting this to make a change.
Would love any advice or suggestions people may have.
