Copa Bidding for Upgrades

Does anyone know exactly how it works? I bid and then got an email later that said I was outbid, but when checking, it stills shows I’m in 3rd place with 3 seats available but 5 people bidding…

The thing that is weird is that it originally showed 4 bidders and now 5 and still in 3rd place. Not sure how a 5th person could bid less than anyone?

I guess the question is am I actually in 3rd place?

Thoughts appreciated.

“I can’t expect delays happen”

I haven’t ridden the Amtrak in over 15 years until this week. My first train Silver Meteor headed South, was delayed over an hour and when I asked about it, one Amtrak employee said “oh that one? delays nearly every day”. The lady in NY was incredibly nice and helpful and did switch me to another train. Then one my next train, an Acela heading North, it was delayed due to “commissary”. When I asked what that means and then if it was a 3rd party that supplies, I got a snippy, angry lady who said “no, but things happen”. As I proceeded to ask more questions in a calm manner, she got notable more aggressive in tone and said “I’m done with this conversation”.

Unreal how rude some of them can be, especially defending all of these delays like they are normal. So Amtrak has horrendous infrastructure and trains and can’t even make up for it by supplying commissary on time (and the delay was 30 minutes, not 5).

What a shit show this whole system, I feel for folks who have to ride it daily.
