[Dev] Brogue Classic/CE/SE

Countless adventurers before you have descended this torch-lit staircase, seeking the promised riches below. As you reach the bottom and step into the wide cavern, the doors behind you seal with a powerful magic...

Welcome to the Dungeons of Doom!

An oldie but a goodie. I released the original iPad version 13 years ago but let it fade into obscurity around 2020. It’s back and better than ever! We’ve got an in game launcher for the original Brogue — Brian Walker’s classic introduction, Brogue CE — a community driven effort providing bug fixes and features that stay true to the original, and a new work-in-progress rebalancing/re-envisioning variant Brogue SE (by yours truly), and most importantly you can now play on your iPhone.

I never thought a small screen Brogue was possible and dragged my feet for over a decade but…

… you’ve got it all, tap, double tap, pinch to zoom, drag, and shortcut buttons.
… Acid mounds, bloats, centaurs.. oh my; all the way through to zombies, the rogue alphabet is all here and ready to bludgeon your character to death.

Have an iPad with a Magic Keyboard and can’t understand these old school rogue keyboard controls? Me neither, that’s why I’ve also added a modern keyboard layout for those of us still trying to figure out how to quit the vim terminal.

Best of all, it’s free. You can master the game over 100s of runs or rage quit after one without any risk - other than a burgeoning rogue addiction and an irrational fear of the letter j.

[iOS] A/B navigation testing broken

I assume it’s A/B testing but every time I open the app I’m not sure if I’m getting the left edge swipe to reveal the menu or the Reddit button left toolbar menu. Pick a bucket and stick with it.

If you want my vote, go with the tool bar button. At least that seems to maintain my News/popular/feed state while the swipe does not maintain state and often I mistakenly swipe back to my main feed from News and abandon the app because I know navigating back will refresh the view.
