We will not sell our souls in the name of development. How are you not able to understand this basic tenet? Any cheri development must be opposed, because if cheri people's life improves, how can we milk it in our cinemas? Who will then pour milk for cutouts for our heroes who live in poverty ridden houses in Poes Garden slum?
Infact, the real metric for measuring a state's progress should not be SGDP and all, it should be how much crores get collected at the Box Office.
So dear neighbors, you keep your development and we will keep our Dravidawood + Commies. The day you realise cinema is more important than real life is the day you will finally find maturity like us Tamils.
Look at how Mumbai’s second airport is being constructed.
An entire hill was levelled, swampy land was reclaimed using the debris, and the Ulwe River was diverted to make the project possible.
The Netherlands and Singapore have been expanding their usable land through reclamation for decades. Even large parts of Chennai from T. Nagar to South Chennai were once wetlands or water bodies that were transformed through urban development.
The entire city of Amsterdam is around 4 metres below sea level, yet it continues to function and deal with heavy rainfall every year.
Engineering solutions exist today to manage flooding, drainage and waterlogging. Yes, major infrastructure projects have environmental costs. The answer isn't to stop development altogether it's to engineer projects properly and mitigate the risks.
Economic growth and environmental protection don't have to be mutually exclusive. If we treat every environmental impact as a reason to stop infrastructure, we can’t build a modern economy.
Otherwise, we might as well go back to living like Neanderthals which is essentially what our governments are pushing us toward when they prioritise freebies over long-term infrastructure.
The state with the second highest GSDP is struggling to even find land for an airport, while wanting farming in the same land that too in Industrial Corridor

The Reddy Lobby around Vijay in TN Govt which has vested interests in Andhra has kindled the EGO of Vijay and his ridiculous promises he made for Ekanapuram people and ill advised him to drop the Parandur Project.
Mission Successful in pushing TN Development atleast 2 decades back so much so it will be impossible to catch up with AP, Ktaka even when TVK goes out of power. A brilliant con job by the Reddy lobby.
TN was going toe to toe with Modi-Adani backed Gujarat and Maha and now staring down the barrel. Further strengthens my notion that TVK is a conglomerate formed to destroy TN and Vijay is a tool in the bigger syndicate.

Let the backbones of this coutnry carry the tax burden , stop taking tax from IT and middle class employees.

Video is the speech by the CM. Here's the claim made vs the reality on the ground wrt #Chennai and #Parandur
Claim: Chennai requires a new airport to handle more passengers annually, support regional industrial growth, improve passenger convenience, and expand air cargo capacity.
Reality: The necessity of a second airport is not just about passenger numbers; it is about structural capacity limits.
Meenambakkam is constrained to 1,301 acres. Even with terminal additions, it operates on cross/intersecting runways that cap overall hourly Air Traffic Movements (ATM) and limit long-haul international cargo connections needed by manufacturing hubs like Sriperumbudur. Relying solely on a single urban airport leaves Chennai lagging behind twin-hub metro economies like #Delhi-NCR (Noida) and Mumbai (Navi Mumbai).
Claim: The previous government selected #Parandur in a manner that heavily impacted farmers and evicted residents; hence, the Parandur project will be completely dropped.
Reality: Dropping Parandur after extensive pre-feasibility work sets Chennai’s infrastructure timeline back by 5 to 10 years.
Over 1,100 to 1,700 acres were already acquired, with initial site clearances and in-principle approvals granted. Abandoning the site invalidates years of technical studies, environmental clearance preparation, and financial planning, causing significant delays and loss of investor confidence.
Claim: Suitable alternative locations have been identified with minimal impact on agricultural lands and residential areas, and detailed feasibility studies will be conducted.
Reality: Multi-runway greenfield airports demand 4,000 to 5,000 contiguous acres. In northern #TamilNadu, any land parcel of this scale within an hour of Chennai's industrial hubs will inevitably involve farmlands, small water bodies, or village settlements.
Alternate sites previously evaluated (such as #Pannur, #Tiruporur, or #Padalam) were rejected by experts precisely due to severe airspace overlaps with Tambaram Air Force Base, Kalpakkam nuclear restriction zones, or dense industrial settlements. Shifting to a new site merely transfers land acquisition disputes and environmental concerns to a different group of villages rather than solving the core dilemma.
Claim: Chennai Airport will be expanded by constructing Terminal 5 in the northwestern area to handle an additional 20 million passengers, taking total capacity to 55 million per year until the new airport is ready.
Reality: Terminal expansion does not equal runway capacity. While building Terminal 5 increases terminal seating, gates, and check-in counters, it does not add a new parallel runway.
Meenambakkam’s runway system will hit severe operational saturation at peak hours long before reaching 55 million passengers, creating severe air traffic congestion, extended holding patterns, and flight delays.
City Traffic Congestion: Channeling 55 million passengers through Tirusulam/Meenambakkam will heavily choke the GST Road corridor, Grand Southern Trunk network, and regional access points, regardless of grade separators. Expanding Meenambakkam treats the symptoms rather than providing a long-term solution. It risks delaying the second airport indefinitely, leaving Chennai without modern mega-hub capabilities.
It is extremely disappointing that #Chennai never gets what it deserves. 😭😭
Final Alignment of the Chennai - Bengaluru HSR.
I guess Chennai Bengaluru HSR is going to be the next HSR Line. We can expect construction in the next 2 years hopefully!

If Parandur couldn't accommodate a runway, why was it selected in the first place? Site selection follows technical feasibility studies, not Inky Pinky Ponky.
If there's new engineering evidence, release it publicly or stop changing the narrative after years of planning. Don't make Tamil Nadu's economy a scapegoat for your politics.
Chennai-Trichy Expressway could be a reality soon. NHAI has begun the groundwork for a a 300 kms long 6 lane greenfield access controlled Eway. Travel time to come down to 3 Hrs. TN Govt has assured full cooperation for clearances & land acquisition

Chennai & Bayappanahalli terminus will have 6 lines each & Whitefield station gets 2 lines.
NHSRCL has also included the design of tunnels in Chennai Bangalore HSR in its latest bid.

* 14.79 Kms tunnel in Mogili Ghat (Kaundinya Sanctuary).
* 15.92 kms tunnel in Bangalore City
Chennai will have HSR Terminal Station just beside the Chennai Central Railway Station 🫶🏻
Once completed, Chennai Central will have HSR, Railways, 2 Suburban Lines, 2 Metro Lines & One MRTS Line + 27 Storey Central Square Tower. Will be a huge multimodal integration in India ⚡💥

Chennai is at the risk of falling behind cities like Noida, Ahmedabad, Vizag, Amaravati etc which are aggressively building new airports and growth engines.
Every time a new site for Chennai's 2nd Greenfield Airport is announced, remember it will keep moving away from the city. Oragadam to Parandur to the next where? Ranipet??
The airport today is an investment magnet. From attracting niche aerospace investments to high paying GCC jobs. It's not about flying alone today CM Vijay Sir. Bengaluru airport contributes 6% to Bengaluru's GDP.
Pay more compensation to the farmers who have been affected but do not shelve the project. We can't lose another 10 years by choosing a place, preparing DFR DPR & approvals & Land Acquisition in a new place.
Chennai is surrounded by lakes. One can't find 5000 acres of continuous land without ponds & lakes.

Chennai HSR Terminal Station is going to be Underground Station for Chennai - Bengaluru & Chennai - Hyderabad Lines.
