In today's WINGED WHEEL Podcast, Max Bultman kept stating disbelief at what happened and diagnosed this as a cascade of delayed decisions by RED WING decision makers. Who are the RED WING decision makers?

Max listed the domino effect of April, he felt a decision needed to be made on Yzerman staying or going, and decision makers stalled decision.

May came and still no decision.

June Larkin makes trade request. Supposedly Decision makers finally feel they need to let Yzerman go due to two things:

  1. Yzerman informed team that return package would be future weighted and decision makers wanted present day assets.

  2. Back door channels reached out to COLUMBUS's Zach Wereinski about playing in home state of Michigan and team was told to go pound sand. Again, Decision makers wanted to know why Yzerman had created a place where local heroes like Zach refused to come to DETROIT.

Late June/early July, Yzerman elevated out of GM role and Hockey Operations leader search begins. Shawn Horcoff announced as "acting" GM.

July came and no decision.

August came and no decision.

Early September, decision makers admit no hires are imminent and promote Shawn Horcoff from "acting" GM to "interim" GM.

Simon Edvisson arrives at camp without contract, pays his own insurance, and internet claims that he wants a long term contract after a summer of silence from organization.

After two weeks, no progress is made and Evidsson returns to Europe.

So who are the "decision makers"? Is it all Illitch? Who else has a voice that may be steering the conversations for the WINGS currently?

Women of Reddit, as an older man I recall most women I knew when I was younger still had their pubic hair but over the last 20 years everyone seems de-nuded. When did you start removing your pubic hair and why?

In my 20's I remember discussing grooming for both myself and my partner as a matter of mutual respect and etiquette for our sexual expression. Is this the driving force and a matter of normalization over time? I have encountered off-hand conservations with friends who recently were having discussions with their daughters who are pre-teens. I was shocked to say the least, but kept my comments to myself and present them here.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7527607/2026/08/21/padres-sale-franchise-value-mlb-sports-business/

Interesting article in THE ATHLETIC that point out factors and efforts that led an MLB franchise that has never won a World Series and has the smallest market in MLB became one of the largest actors in free agency and trade markets and even more unbelievable, just sold for a record MLB franchise valuation, 50% more than the NY METS were sold for just over two years ago.

It seems like the fans consistently side with the DETROIT owners that we are the victims and can not compete with the other big market teams of the world. But here is San Diego who literally competes every day in the same division as the big, bad LA DODGERS...in a market 5X smaller than LA's (1.1 million viewers to LA's 5.8 million, DETROIT's is ~2 million) which results in lesser local tv money (again, SD was reportedly $47 million before Diamond Sports went under, compared to TIGER's $60 million before Diamond Sports collapse vs LA's $196 million reported at end of 2025).

Yet despite these challenges, they are consistently top 5 in attendance and one of only 4 teams that has drawn over 3 million fans 4 years in a row and have rewarded fans by making play-offs 4 of the last 6 seasons.

During the recent RED WING discussions for a new GM, it was reported ownership is telling interested parties resources will be unlimited for hockey operations. So what is the TIGER's excuse.

Social Media is just as bad as regular media! DETROIT RED WING trade speculation is just content filler with very little basis on reality!!

To many, this is self-evident.

But man, the sheer volume of trade proposals here, on X, on youtube and they are just all over the place. ]

Before the Larking deal, there were multiple outfits reporting DETROIT was trying to trade goalie prospect Sebastian Cossa to EDMONTON for Darnell Nurse. https://www.markerzone.com/news/index.php?no=590983

I first heard that, my initial reaction was, "Why?" Some of the posts were actually framed that the RED WINGS may have to toss something in with Cossa to get Nurse.

When

Coss is a former first round pick. He very recently (3 months ago) was considered the best goalie prospect not playing in the NHL. Edmonton for the past few years is desperate for a goalie of any ability. Nurse is being paid $9.25 million a year for the next 4 years. The past two seasons he has publicly been called out for making critical, obvious mistakes defensively. Edmonton is up against it with the salary cap. DETROIT seems to be set defensively, especially at the top with Sieder and Edvidson.

Well, yesterday on the ATHLETIC, Shayna Goldman wrote a piece on how Nurse's contract is an albatross for someone who is a borderline #4 defenseman on a good team:

>Nurse’s value has understandably plummeted over the past few years. The mistakes are less forgiving in Edmonton, considering its goaltending situation over the years. The Oilers’ deep runs over the last few seasons put those lapses even more front and center.

>A playoff-caliber team can’t afford to have Nurse playing matchup minutes; he’s far too risky with the puck and undisciplined. His penalty differential has been in the negatives every single regular season of his career, and all but one postseason. The fact that the Oilers’ offense cratered in his minutes this year hurts his value even more.It just requires finding the right situation and partner. He needs to play with a partner with puck skills who can handle defensive-zone puck touches, such as retrievals and breakouts. Then, it’s easier to focus on what he brings. He’s battle-tested, hard-nosed and can absorb big minutes. Nurse has a long reach, can still burst up the ice with speed to join the rush, plays with an edge, kills penalties and can be counted on for leadership. General managers of playoff teams often look for players with exactly those qualities.

>Nurse needs more structure around him and a simplified role as a No. 4 or five.

Her comparable deals cited the recent Jacob Trouba deal where the Trouba's team RETAINED his entire $8 million cap for 2 years and received a 4th round pick and a minor prospect.

How did we get from Darnell Nurse for Cossa + would be doing the RED WINGS a favor to yesterday's article on his value??

If you are not quoting sources, or providing informed insights, then it is just ego-stroking content filler. Now extrapolate that to the Larkin chatter.

Just re-watched the two-part series finale of LOST. Has there ever been a more cathartic and earned climax to a television series?

I can not stop crying.

One by one, our various regulars that we have invested in for 6 seasons slowly interact with each other in the sideways, enabling them to re-connect and remember their time on the Island.

Jin and Sun remembering their love and child after surrendering to the inedibility of drowning in the sub.

Locke waking up from surgery and literally walking out of the hospital minutes later: "Jack, I wish someone will do for you what you just did for me."

Desmond: "I'll see you in another life, brother."

Charlie's sacrifice as he writes on his palm just before he drowns NOT PENNY"S BOAT.

Have there been other earned investments like this show?

Per post from RED WINGS DIGEST: They speculate RED WINGS should pursue RFA Pavel Doyofeyev. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8VyzRq290I

He plays for Vegas as a 25 year old with only two full seasons under his belt but has scored 35 and 37 goals in those two seasons.

The KNIGHTS have 6 players next season making $7.5 million or more next season with Jack Eichel toping out at $13.5 million. They have 9 forwards, 5 defensemen, and 2 goalies signed for next year with $4+ million available in cap space.

The league wide speculation is his next contract will be between $7-9 million a season and VEGAS can not match that. Signing him to under $7.2 million would be a return compensation of a first and third round pick by the signing team while above that up to $9.5 is a first, 2nd, and 3rd compensation.

Is this something Stevie Y should pursue? I personally like this but we hardly ever see offer sheets on RFA;s in the NHL.
