If "wayland doesn't have the concept of a main display" then why can't I change which monitor my notifications tray shows?
I have two monitors, identical. Right now the monitor labelled as 'monitor 2' is on the left and is my main monitor.
But the cosmic panel puts all the notification tray icons on 'monitor 1'. I have no option to redesignate monitors. Surely this means that the system does have a concept of a 'main display' or 'primary display', I'm just not allowed to pick it.

I'm not sure if this is a change in the cosmic greeter or something to do with the NVIDIA drivers. It wasn't happening before, but it is now.
I have two monitors, one via HDMI and the other via DisplayPort as secondary. Everything works fine on a boot and login. But when I return and login after leaving the computer alone, the second screen either isn't detected at all or displays weird wobbly and flashing of the screen elements.
The problem is fixed if I hit Ctrl Alt F2 to open a tty session and then Ctrl Alt F1 to return to the regular screens, so it seems like reinitialising the display fixes the problem? But just powering the monitor on and off doesn't.
I was thinking recently about Bad Times at the El Royale which definitely feels inspired by Tarantino and similar directors recently. And recently I watched an Indian movie, The Man Who Feels No Pain (2018) that is very postmodern and meta at times - the character occasionally fantasies about an action scene but then cuts to what 'really' happened, it often references other movies (Avengers, Justice League, Inglourious Basterds, THX1138 all get namedropped or referenced in obvious ways), there's a full musical flashback to explain a character's past that's very different from a 'standard' Bollywood dance number.
Are there some other solid directors and movies from across the world with this kind of style and influences?
I am not just looking for gritty action or quips.
I haven't done anything particularly weird to it, just customised it so it has the same rough layout as, say, Windows 10, and added the menu Applet to work similar to a Start menu (not that I ever really use it, just for familiarity).
Once or twice a day I notice the panel disappear and restart, suggesting it crashed and restarted, but I can't imagine what's actually causing it. I'm almost never actually doing anything with the panel when this happens (just on my browser as normal).
Recently I even had an issue where it didn't come back at all. I just had to kill the Cosmic DE entirely and let it restart itself.
