What funny things have happened to you recently?
Cases of mistaken identity? Amusing typos? Pets doing something cute? Slapstick accidents you witnessed? Get a real zinger comeback in? Anything from the "mildly amusing" to the uproarious? "Recently" here refers to in somewhere around the time frame of the past two months? I ask because I assume the answers will be fun.
Question about this quotation from Errico Malatesta: Overcoming the problem of the competent but uncharismatic or badly spoken?
I'm a big Malatesta fan, but I'm reading his collected works and came across this quote: Anarchy is society organized without authority, meaning by authority the power to impose one’s own will, and not the inevitable and beneficial fact that he, who has greater understanding of, as well as the ability to carry out a task, succeeds more easily in having his opinions accepted and in acting as a guide on the particular question for those less able than himself.” - Errico Malatesta
My question about this is, some people who are very good at specific tasks are notably bad at explaining themselves to others, and very bad at convincing people of the value of their way of doing things. I'm thinking specifically of people who are pretty "STEM" brained (and not right-wing STEM people, but people who are lefty math types, engineers, etc) and who are very good people, but who are uncharismatic and whom many people find abrasive to be around. I have a few friends like that who have alienated many people unintentionally (by seeming condescending or similar). I tend to get on well with people, but I'm also not someone who readily understands the kind of stuff these friends do and so do not feel equipped to evaluate their competence.
So yeah, when it comes to the stuff that's really arcane, esoteric, and specialized, how do we create and educate a society so people will be able to analyze based on accurate understanding rather than simply based on charisma?
(note: I do not think capitalism really solves this well either, nor non-anarchist socialisms)

I think almost every dude has one. Mine’s the trebuchet.
Next level misgendering kink
Obviously, the “cis dude makes a trans dude detransition and treats him like a girl and breeds him” kink is old news, but have we considered, “trans med/4tran user decides you’re not really trans/will never pass and makes you his trad wife”? I’m just saying.
What does your body chemistry do to fragrance, and why do you think it does it?
I'm asking because I assume we know some of the mechanisms that effect fragrance on the skin and how they effect it (e.g. dehydrated skin reduces longevity and sillage) and we know that diet and hormonal profile effect certain notes (if you run testosterone, body chemistry often turns up notes of cumin more than it would have running estrogen as your dominant hormone for example), but I'm wondering what other examples we know about?
I think obviously, the way fragrance smells on a given person has a lot to do with the underlying scent of the body, which is produced by factors like diet, hormones, skin acidity, microbiome, etc.
I have a friend who tends towards the oily, and eats a very healthy no-booze diet, and his skin turns up cinnamon and vanilla like CRAZY. He also tends to turn vetiver notes up pretty high.
My husband, who is also oily and eats healthy and sober but high protein and lifts, tends to be able to wear fragrances that are smokey, weird, and adversarial and have them smell LOVELY and extremely wearable (A City on Fire from Imaginary Authors, Bulls Blood from Imaginary Authors, Iron Duke from Beauforte London, and similar). He's also on an SSRI and I know those can effect scents.
I tend to make scents go pretty soft (I run cold and am on the dry side skin-wise) and I also don't drink. Coconut can go rancid on me easily for some reason. I have the gene that makes cilantro taste weird and IDK if there's *any* science behind this but I think maybe the "coconut smells weird on me" and the cilantro tastes weird to me may be related.
Anyway, what about you?
