I just finished the novel, and it’s easily one of my top favourites.
What’s not to love?

Poirot and Hastings’ fun interactions? Hastings pushing back against Poirot multiple times? The interesting mystery and the thriller elements?😍

The story is also incredibly well written and tightly connected. Every detail feels like it has a purpose, and all the different pieces of the mystery slowly come together in such a satisfying way.

Ok, what is wrong with Season 4?

Kerry’s storyline is the same for the third time: the ambitious, cutthroat woman whose would anything to get ahead …??? Kerry’s friendship with Jeanie was the best part of her character, yet she just casually agreed to fire her.

And as much as I love Jeanie, her storyline is basically the same as it was in Season 3.
Carter… I don’t know. I liked him better working with Benton.

Dr. Greene and Cynthia’s relationship is pure cringe. What even is that?

And seriously, Carol just kisses every paramedic she works with. Like to damage Carol and Doug relationship the easy way.

His story breaks my heart. But his death wasn’t Carter’s or Benton’s fault.
Gant wasn’t doing a very good job, and Benton is hard on everyone.

Carter loved working for Benton. He clearly didn’t back Gant’s complaint because he agreed with Benton. Plus, it wasn’t Carter’s responsibility to fulfill Gant’s emotional needs. What Gant needed was therapy.

The only asshole here is the Chief of Staff. I think he should have handled the complaint better instead of confronting Benton about it publicly and humiliating Gant even more.

I love that he is such a good, loyal friend. He literally spends half his time supporting his friends, Susan and Doug. He even put his own career on the line for them. What an amazing friend ❤️

First, it is a Poirot story, but we see very little of him, this cut down on my enjoyment.

Second, it was the easiest solve ever. I knew from the start that:

>!It was the actor, Sir Charles Cartwright, who was the murderer; he wanted to create dramatic scenes.!<

>!I knew the first murder was just staged to shift suspicion away from the second murder. This wasn’t even a big revelation the book spells it out.!<

>!The joke between Dr. Bartholomew!<
>!And the butler clearly points out that it!< >!was his friend rather than an actual butler.!<

I wouldn’t say it is badly written, but this is definitely the weakest Christie novel I have read so far.

Personally, I love him.

Yes, he is cocky, but it doesn’t bother me at all. Poirot is a nice man, respectful of women, funny when he wants to be, and he is also an excellent friend. Yes, he teases poor Hastings a lot, but what is the point of being best friends if you can’t do that?

He also seems like the kind of person who enjoys the small things in life, like food 💗

What about you?

Okay, I will not discuss >!how a woman could marry the same man twice without knowing.!< I think it’s fair to say this point confuses most fans.

But forgetting that, Mrs. Leidner was supposedly a smart woman, even by Poirot’s description. >!She cheated on her husband, why wasn’t she afraid of him? Even if she didn’t think he was her first husband. Also, why did she agree to have a nurse?!<

When I first looked at the bookcase and decided to start reading Agatha Christie novels, this was the first one I picked up. I wanted to test myself—would I still enjoy Agatha Christie like I used to? Was this story really as good as I remembered?

The answer was yes. Not only is it an ideal starting point, but honestly it’s the novel I would recommend to anyone who wants to start reading Agatha Christie.

Why do I love this novel so much?

Poirot is brilliant from the very beginning. His appreciation of food, saying he wishes he could eat more than 3 meals a day. His stay at Mrs Summerhayes’ boarding house was so fun to read, and the way he keeps irritating Superintendent Spence is very entertaining. “You do like to make it difficult, don’t you, M. Poirot?”

Then we have my all-time favourite Christie character, Ariadne Oliver. Any novel that includes her is instantly more fun, and here she doesn’t disappoint.

There’s also the deep psychological element. >!The part where Poirot explains why people keep photographs is one of the best passages I’ve ever read in a Christie novel.!<

The whole plot was outstanding. It starts with a mysterious murder >!and develops into Poirot chasing down four seemingly unconnected photographs.!<

This novel is truly a top-tier, one-of-a-kind mystery. ❤️

When I read this story, Colonel Race was one of the people I suspected, not even necessarily as the murderer, I just didn’t trust him. >!After I finished the story, I was kind of surprised to find out he appears in three other stories.!<

>!Do you think when Christie wrote this, she wasn’t planning on making him a recurring character?!<

Yeah, I’m like everyone else — I prefer Hercule Poirot’s usual mysteries. But this was still very enjoyable.

Although I’ve got to say, Hastings >!believing it was Poirot’s twin and not actually him was a bit much. Christie really goes out of her way to make him literally the dumbest man alive,!< >!😂😂😂!<
