>Sweaty hulk trolled me in doom match, then when I swapped wolv he kited, playing healthpacks and poking only to ambush and solo ult me once I gave up. Then third partied me when I 1v1ed other players

>kind of annoyed, decide to channel that energy productively into some QP

>go 26-8 24 finals, my tank swaps third dps, enemy swaps namor, no one shoots squid, lose

>namor types lol in chat

>queues again, actually frustrated

>30-8, 1-3-2 comp again, cracked enemy spidy and widow solely focusing me

>both my dps go 8-13 and 10-10, one disconnects, my 15-13 adam types “spidy do something”

>lose

Moments like this I question what I gain from playing this game. I think it’s supposed to be enjoyment

Keep in mind, DD’s iconic Man Without Fear skin has the default skin’s billy clubs

The dev’s thought process for which skins get legendary treatment with all the bells and whistles of vfx and recolors nearly feels as though they aren’t true fans of Marvel. Lol, I know that’s a crazy claim to make but holy shit. You’re telling me iconic suits from the comics like DD’s Man Without Fear and Spider-Man’s BLACK SUIT aren’t legendary but a luna race car skin and a college professor sue skin are? And don’t pull the larger customer base card because spidy players collect skins like infinity stones.

Coulda made his billy clubs white or wooden. Coulda given him white smoke instead of flames and a smoke dome for ult. Coulda gave black suit spidy tendrils in during ult, darker voice-lines (if you think thats overdoing it, see: lady loki) and a symbiote taking over emote (bully maguirre still cool though).

It’s like the character art team all main sue, luna and psy, and spend their free time workshopping skins for them and every time the lead game designer tells them they need to make another insert character comic skin he’s met with groans and rolled eyes. DD’s man without fear skin literally has the default clubs holy shit. It is the epitome of “Here damn”

If he was DPS, what could the devs do to avoid miles kit from simply being a better version of peter’s?

Replace GOHT/uppercut with venom abilities I guess.

He could probably have a midrange lighting bolt or something.

I really really don’t want a situation where they give him less swings to compensate for his damage being higher than peters in his other abilities

I find myself in way more situations where I die from accidentally clinging onto a wall mid-escape than situations where I’m glad the wall-clinging is automatic

In fact I only really use wall-climbing when not in combat: to set up ambushes or to cover more ground quicker while I wait for swing cooldowns. I think we’re long overdue for a QOL buff to his passives.

Never understood the “Spidy players are cowards all they do is run in 1v1’s” complaint

Especially from other DPS. Like, no shit lol. Running away is baked into his kit. And not to mention, EVERYBODY RUNS when they’re low. If they happen to be by a health-pack mid 1v1 they will use any modicum of mobility they have to snatch it up and gain the upper hand in the fight. Spidy just does it quicker and more frequently because he has the mobility to do so and the low base HP/lack of sustain that requires him to. You want Mr. 250hp 0 over-shield to sit there, duke it out and may the best man win? It’s going to be YOU. He doesn’t have the sustain to duke it out with most of the roster.

Magik can chuck a demon at her feet and farm over-shield from you, Starlord can flip out any damage you attempt when closing the distance on him and he gets over-shield for the trouble, DD shits over-shield and Elsa generates it from the very thought of you engaging with her. Shit, if you use your GOHT too early, Ironfist can stop mid 1v1, meditate and regenerate all his health right in-front of your face like a fromsoftware boss battle and theres nothing you can do about it.

Meanwhile I have three swings to close the distance, out damage and maneuver you while dodging attacks and securing the pick with 250hp. That health-pack across the room IS my over-shield. That’s the characters edge. If you’re a diver you get to generate over-shield mid 1v1, if you’re poke you get to damage me from a distance and CC me at close range, if you’re a brawler you get to out sustain me. I get to zip to a health pack and come back. The moment I can generate overshield from combos I’ll stay in the fight longer I promise lol

Have you seen the quality of quickplay’s matchmaking??

I LOVE how the outcome of matches are near predetermined because THEY get minimum level 50 teammates and I get a stacked team of max level 12 post-lobotomy patients using the common room playstations,

I LOVE watching my level 4 thing jog headfirst into a full team to blow up again and again and again,

I LOVE when the enemy team having their way with us uses text chat to rub it in mid game AND post,

and BOY OH BOY do I SPRING WITH GLEE when my mirror match types insert mirror character diff in chat KNOWING they lost every isolated 1v1 and my teammates likely bots (HAVE TO BE)

I LOVE HOW COMPETITIVE IS DEAD IN MY REGION FORCING ME TO PLAY SHIT MATCHES ON QUICKPLAY OR USE SERVERS THAT’LL SHOOT MY PING UP AND MAKE ME USELESS IN THE GAME ANYWAY

I mean they made his kit, so obviously they must’ve known the steep learning curve to be able to viably use him in higher elo, especially given the 5 star difficulty rating they gave him. But looking at how much the playerbase has evolved how they utilize his kit makes me wonder if maybe they took his kit further than even the dev’s intended design.

I mean if default settings are an indicator of how they expected players to use him then he’d only be good for cleaning up half hp targets which means voice comms would be near required for coordination, and solo dive would be out of the question. Spastic simple swing, inability to bhop, GOH and GOHT binded to the same key.. like there’s no way they thought he should be played like this right? And if that’s the case, why the hell did they make his default settings so.. painful to use?
