Human Muppets

Hi, friends!

So, last week I posed to the group: what are songs we
would consider unofficial muppet songs?

(Boy was that a blast! u/sexyonpaper even made a playlist!
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2B6E8FzvXMbSXhTlLYGILj?si=kwMhFogDSqORU-Tto2qL_A&utm_source=copy-link&pi=3kfeQc8AToG4U )

Anyway, as I said in the previous post, I’m a bartender and that muppet song conversation has evolved into further discussion topics.

The new muppet question of the week: who do we consider human muppets?

To be clear, this isn’t an appearance thing, it’s an energy/attitude/physicality/personality thing.

The top ones thus far are:

  1. Tim Curry
  2. David Byrne
  3. Maya Rudolph
  4. Jeff Goldblum
  5. Lily Tomlin
  6. Gilda Radner
  7. Tim Meadows

Some other points made:
~We’ve decided Weird Al is his own thing. (Think Second City vs Upright Citizens Brigade)
~Steve Martin is too perfect as the human accompaniment to a muppet to be a muppet. He’s absolutely fluent in muppet and our bridge between both worlds.

What do we think? Can’t wait to hear(read) new suggestions!

Happy Sunday, be safe!

Unofficial Muppet Songs

Hi, guys! So I’m a bartender and I love to start a day with a song that’s the vibe I’m feeling on Spotify and then letting Spotify run away with the idea.

Today I was opening the bar belting out Man Or Muppet.
After, Spotify was doing its thing (lots of Disney and yada yada) but it played ELO “Mr. Blue Sky” and I thought, “yes, this is Muppets without being Muppets.”

So, we started a conversation at the bar of what we could consider “unofficial Muppet songs” regardless of time period the song came out and it’s been really fun!

I wanted to ask the community what you would think of as “Muppets without being Muppets”

Some volunteered ideas at the bar:
Boris the Spider by The Who
Yellow Submarine by the Beatles
“Anything Neil Diamond or Elton John” 😂

Scotty

I know there are bigger forums like r/sitcoms and such, but I specifically wanted to bring this up to this group:

So I really love Scotty, as a Chicago bartender, because he’s the perfect depiction of someone you see and know better than the people you actually care about because he’s just a regular staple in the area/“scene.”

I was curious if this group had characters from other shows they consider to be the “Scotty.”

Artemis from Always Sunny and Harry “the hat” from Cheers are other characters I would consider in this trope. (Basically any Jason Mantzoukas character.)

Long story short, I want Happy Endings fans’ favorite random chaos recurrent characters from other shows.

Sisters

Had a blast doing this piece and figured I’d share. Based on the infamous photo of Dakota and Elle Fanning.

(Would love any inspo ideas for other pop culture moments that would be fun to capture in an abstract-ish style.)

Thanks for stopping by! ❤️

Inanimate “death” that caused an audible gasp

1: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (the car)

  1. Titanic (The Heart Of The Ocean)

  2. Onward (Guinevere)

  3. Horrible Bosses (box of coke)

Basically what the title says: what’s a non-human death that gave you an audible gasp at the loss?
