Dear Disney,

How much do you want? We’ll crowdfund and buy the rights from you. I was watching some recent Muppet videos and they look like they are built so cheaply. Like they’re mass produced puppets. There’s no more texture or depth in the characters.

Breaks my heart.

Giant Muppets haul!

Got this haul off a partial trade and I couldn’t be more stoked! A couple pieces/bases missing, but it’s all palisades 🤩

I’m going/hoping to be making a runner and some elevated stages/sets/a balcony for Statler and Waldorf

Muppet-casting Clue: Janice has been cast as Miss Scarlet! Day 10: Who are you casting as Mr. Boddy?

For the first time, the Muppet received some serious competition from humans. Lots of votes for Sigourney Weaver and Aubrey Plaza, which I have to say would have been a knock-out of a choice.

I have a feeling I know where Mr Boddy will land. But I'll leave it to you.

As always, you can vote any Muppet or human performer, except the role's originator. Have fun!

Muppet Babies 2018 - LOTR Mash-up Outtake!

Found this little gem! When one of our directors was leaving Muppet Babies, the team put this together as a little joke. Very RARE Muppet Babies Outtake.

Galaxycon Screening Question

I am planning on going to Galaxycon in Des Moines next month, and Steve Whitmire is doing a live commentary screening of Muppet Treasure Island.

Has anybody else gone to a screening like this at another convention. Could you please share a picture of what the event poster and other goodies look like? Thanks!

Where the heck is the news about the Muppet Show reboot?

So the Sabrina Carpenter special earned rave reviews, 7.58 million TV / streaming views in 8 days, it's been said Josh D'Amaro is a fan of the brand, iirc there's been a renewed merchandising push this year...

And then nothing. I think the biggest things in the time since are the Seth MacFarlane album and the Rock N Roller Coaster opening.

Why has it taken so long for an update to happen? Did they not have a pitch for a full series ready to go?

If Disney wanted to buy the distribution rights to these movies, how much do you think it'd cost? Sony owns the first three while NBCUniversal owns the fourth one

Muppet-casting Clue: Gonzo the Great has been cast as Professor Plum! Day 9: Who are you casting as Miss Scarlet?

Pepe put up a good fight, but in the end, purple gonna purple.

I can't wait to see the votes for this next one.

You can vote for any Muppet or human performer, except the role's original performer.

Was there musical guests Jim had considered for Muppet Show?

I was wondering if Jim kept track of "pop stars" "rock stars" in late 70s through 1980 if there was anyone in particular he wanted but couldn't get them on the show for some reason (travel, schedule, or something else).

I was thinking of rock musicians like Bruce Springsteen(Darkness / River era '77-81 ) just gradually being a rock icon or The Cars(circa 1978-1979), Christopher Cross (1980), Donna Summer(1979-1980), Earth Wind Fire circa 1978-1979, Marvin Gaye 1978-1979.

Maybe Fleeetwood Mac 1977-1979

A D23 Muppet announcement after all: Pizzerizzo replacement announced

PizzeRizzo originally opened as Pizza Planet in 1995, inspired by Toy Story, but was re-themed in 2016 with a Muppets backstory. This quick-service restaurant was owned and run by Rizzo the Rat, who came from a long line of rat pizza makers.

Heck they even get two restaurants in this new Monsters Inc. area:

Harryhausen’s has been announced as the other restaurant opening in Monstropolis. The restaurant will bring to life the high-end restaurant where we see Mike and Celia at her birthday dinner, crashed by a “23-19.”

Here, an Audio-Animatronics figure of the restaurant’s tentacled sushi chef will prepare monster-inspired creations.

Disney says the joint will serve sushi and more, offering “a menu unlike anything else we offer at Walt Disney World. It will be a great place to bring your Schmoopsie-poo for a romantic meal.”

I remember the posts here saying Disney would announce the reboot series being picked up shortly after the Sabrina Carpenter special airing. Then it would be announced when the Rock'n Roller coaster reopened. Then it was moved to D23 and still nothing. The special aired more than half a year ago. So, where is the goal post being moved to next?

Muppets is a niche brand. It has been since the 90's, with the exception of Muppet Babies and the Jason Segal movie. People in general don't care enough about them and I can't blame Disney for not investing a lot in it.

Human Muppets

Hi, friends!

So, last week I posed to the group: what are songs we
would consider unofficial muppet songs?

(Boy was that a blast! u/sexyonpaper even made a playlist!
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2B6E8FzvXMbSXhTlLYGILj?si=kwMhFogDSqORU-Tto2qL_A&utm_source=copy-link&pi=3kfeQc8AToG4U )

Anyway, as I said in the previous post, I’m a bartender and that muppet song conversation has evolved into further discussion topics.

The new muppet question of the week: who do we consider human muppets?

To be clear, this isn’t an appearance thing, it’s an energy/attitude/physicality/personality thing.

The top ones thus far are:

  1. Tim Curry
  2. David Byrne
  3. Maya Rudolph
  4. Jeff Goldblum
  5. Lily Tomlin
  6. Gilda Radner
  7. Tim Meadows

Some other points made:
~We’ve decided Weird Al is his own thing. (Think Second City vs Upright Citizens Brigade)
~Steve Martin is too perfect as the human accompaniment to a muppet to be a muppet. He’s absolutely fluent in muppet and our bridge between both worlds.

What do we think? Can’t wait to hear(read) new suggestions!

Happy Sunday, be safe!
