One year!

Sheath (Aug 2025)/sheath (July 2026)
First wallet (Aug 2025) and an attempt at an AirTag holder
First attempt at shoes (Aug 2025)
Proper, lasted shoes (Dec 2025)
Recent wet molded valet trays project (Aug 2026)

I still ruin the occasional piece with the skiving knife but have gotten so much better! Still struggle with saddle stitching—but while doing a fishskin wallet with edge binding last week, since regular leather goes fine. Working on the first welted shoes now and swearing a lot at the outsole, but managed to hand stitch the entire uppers and last them properly.

Bostonian looking for sporran hardware

Hello all! I do leatherwork and have a father who competes in piobaireachd. I'd like to make him a sporran for his competitions. Specifically, I'd like to make him a haggis sporran--a friend had some cow stomach tanned, the texture is fascinating, and I think it would be hilarious as an accent in place of fur with maybe oats and onion blossoms tooled on the sides or flap.

Which brings me to my two questions. 1: Is a day sporran acceptable for solo piper competitions? And if not, 2: does anyone have recommendations for a place that sells cantles and other sporran hardware and is willing to ship to the US?

Unrelated, please come back to Boston, we miss you already!

Anyone in the US selling secondhand 9A-10A ladies lasts?

As I’m slowly learning what I’m doing, I’d love to build up a collection of lasts in my size. ~40AA, would especially love to find a pair for 1-2” heeled pumps. Up for rasping down from B or C width—I have to adjust stuff anyways for my stupid AAAA heels.
