1st mounting attempt

The moss pile is a little taller than I was going for. We're in a fairly dry climate so maybe having a larger area to contain moisture is better, we'll see....

Getting ready for my first mount

Wanting to share some wood that we acquired this weekend to be used for our first mounts. Maple, Fir and, Cedar. Does anyone have any advice or direction with using any of these three types of wood. The fir (middle) has flat on the bottom so it'll be a table or shelf display while the other two that are flat on the back will hang.

Another question I have is screws vs nails for the fishing line and the number and placement of screws or nails? I'm seeing a lot of munts using just 4 anchors. Any disadvantage to using more?

I'm open to any other tips as well.

Thanks in advance :)

1st cataphyll growth on my Melano!

Put it on a moss pole 11/24, approximately 10-11ft of growth until now. Of course it comes with a wonky leaf but, I'll take it!
