Ideas for transplant

Hey all, this is a staghorn fern that I've had for several years now, since it was a small plant. I have it in this moisture tray, which it has clearly overgrown. Looking for ideas on how to transplant it into a different container/mount. Preferably not on a wall, but open to any and all suggestions

1st mount ever!

I finally got around to mounting my bifurcatum. Believe me, I tried to separate it but the soil was just one big ball of roots. Hopefully she won't mind being a bit cramped 🤷🤷

My new baby

Last week, I bought a staghorn fern from a second-hand group for $10. I don't know what variety it is, but I really like it. After bringing it home, I soaked it in water for two hours, which seems like a bit too much water. Then I hung it on the balcony and haven't touched it since. How should I care for it next?

What to do about pup right next to main growth point?

What should I do about the pup? I'm sure it will form a shield frond over the main growth point, but it's also so close to the main growth point Im scared I might damage the plant when removing.

help determining orientation for mounting

Hey y'all, I bought this fern a few months ago and didn't mount it because I didn't see any basal frond growth and thought it might need some time to grow first. I've noticed some new growth and thought I'd ask for some help using that determine the right orientation.

Tried to use the label to show which way I think is up, thanks for your input!

What to do???

Help! My SHF isn’t doing well…it’s in the same soil we got it from at the nursery…it sat by a humidifier, didn’t get too much direct sun and watered appropriately but it’s been losing leaves and now looks like it’s getting dry n leaves are curling…any advice?? thanks in advance!!

Will it rot off?

Is the second one (that's under the shield) going to rot being against the moss and underneath like that? I wanted to pull it off before mounting, but was too scared to! First sf's, and while I could tell it was a separate plant with its own rhizome under there, it was so stuck to the one that has the shield, I didn't feel like I could pull it off without damaging anything.

How to replant these staghorn pups

I have this fantastic staghorn fern that I am in love with, but it’s basal leaves are cemented to the terra-cotta pot. It has what looks like two pups growing. I don’t know how to save or remove the pups. Any advice?

Is this 1 or 2 plants?

Hi there,

First time staghorn fern owner here. Can you tell from the pics whether this is one or two plants?

It looks like there are two growth points(?) and I'm not sure if it's normal for one plant to have two, or whether this is two separate plants mounted below each other?

Considering a trim

My pumila’s base frond folded on itself and made a shelf like structure. Its already turning brown since the other side’s actually growing but im considering cutting out the curvature (see 2nd pic) so the next leaf that grows over it sits more flat.

Seeking advice on whether or not doing so is a good or bad idea.

Ridleyii from spore

This box was sown on 3.30., so about 6weeks from now and the gametophyte clumps are already forming well 🙏🥰

I know I should not be opening it a lot, but I just cannot stop checking on it haha

My First Staghorns!

I’ve been lurking on this sub for a few months, while growing more and more obsessed with Staghorns. I finally took the leap and ordered these two little guys from an Etsy seller who was holding a sale this past weekend.

Meet Jade Girl and Ridleyi Dwarf!

The seller’s note said to keep them in these cups for at least two weeks, but I kind of love how cute and convenient the cups are, so I’ll probably keep them in for as long as feasibly possible. I think it’ll be easy to water them by just filling the cup up with water to cover the root ball to give it a soak whence they dry out.

Anyway I’m super thrilled to finally have Staghorns of my own, and I just hope I don’t kill them! 🤞🏾

Platycerium madagascariense outdoors Florida

First and second photo are 3 days apart. To me looks like something eating it but now I am worried it is some type of rot.
