Assorted Fruit's farewell show tonight at Radio Bean, with Dog Water and The Leatherbound Books

I have no evidence that anyone has ever seen one of these posts and decided to attend a show because of it, but hey maybe you can be the first!

Assorted Fruit - "upbeat/silly punk, queer grunge, hardcore-indie". They've been around since 2021 and we are sad to see them go but excited for the big finish!

The Leatherbound Books - "pop-tinged indie rock". You may have seen them rocking church street during Maple Madness or just about anywhere else, one of our all time favorites and the nicest people you will ever meet.

Dog Water - "indie garage-punk". We have a couple surprises in store that are sure to delight the 3 people that have seen us before.

Music kicks off at 8pm, don't miss it! Looks like it will be the nicest day of the weekend too!

Best place to watch the World Cup?

Dumb tourist from America here, going to be visiting the area for a wedding and happen to arrive the evening of England's next World Cup game. Is there a place that's the "go-to" spot for this sort of thing to get the most authentic English-pub experience? Winchester or the surrounding areas. Thanks!

Is anyone's favorite TMBG album one that wasn't one of the first five they heard?

Just curious. I personally think it's hard to outdo whatever made you fall in love with them (for me, The Spine... that album had a chokehold on me in highschool). My second favorite is Join Us though and by then I had heard most of their catalog.

Big D and the Kids Table new album out today: The Good Old American Saturday Night

First listen, not totally sure what I think just yet, kind of a mix or some of their styles. It seemed to grow on me and I liked some of the ending songs a bit better than the beginning.

I hate to say I don't like the album cover at all. I know it's not AI but it kinda has that style that's been popular with AI lately. They'd be the last band to touch AI but if I didn't know that I might wonder about the artwork.

I do have to say the trombone sounded awesome on a few of these, really deep, solid horn sound.

All this is from one listen while also working so don't rely on my thoughts, go listen for yourself!

Not jazz, tonight at OddFellows!

Nothing against 👋jazz👋 but if you're looking for an alternative to the festival tonight, check out OddFellows for a night of punk, rock, robot doomsday beach music, and indie garage-punk.

Early show, doors at 6:30. All ages! Done before 10pm! Come on out! And if you don't, definitely do go to Jazz Fest because that will be awesome too.

Update: guess I got my answer. Streetlight show canceled.

I was afraid this would happen when the booked a freaking massive room here (VT) where there just aren't that many people. Ive been seeing a ton of promos and giveaway from the venue too which usually means they aren't selling well. Although idk for sure if that's the case but I heard Maine is canceled too.

Wtf guys, come on.

It's June, the month we finally get the new Streetlight Manifesto album.... right?

Right guys??? Surely they won't cancel their tour or heaven forbid, break their promise!

Tons of great options for live music tonight!

Tonight is absolutely stacked!

Lots of bands stopping by on their way to Pouzza Fest in Montreal. 3 of them join Robbery and The Skizm for a killer night of punk at 1st Republic.

Also on their way to Pouzza is Christy Costello who is playing Monkey House with We're Here! To Kill, The Pilgrams, and Dog Water. A mix of grunge, indie, rock, garage, etc.

Over at Radio Bean is a show I'm bummed is at the same time as ours, as I always love seeing The Leatherbound Books and have seen so many great clips of MomDad that I'm hoping to catch them soon. Plus Mooncusser. A night of indie, rock, funk, pop.

Moondogs plays a later show at Radio Bean too for their album release.

Plus The War Turtles (shoegaze) are playing a limited capacity show at Community of Sound with a few others I haven't seen yet.

I'm sure there's more too.

I think it's finally going to stop raining so get out there and enjoy!

How much are Streetlight Manifesto tickets where you are?

VT: $50 plus fees made them $60, or $120 for a pair. Idk why I expected cheaper. Maybe from seeing Big D here for 20 bucks lol. I think in general everything these days is more expensive than I think it will be.

Am I the only one who pays zero attention to which John is singing?

TMBG is my number 1 most listened to artist on Spotify and I've been listening to them since 2000 so I'm more than a casual fan. And I've never been like "oh that's a John F. song."

I didn't even realize it was a thing people thought about until this album when people were saying things like "oh that's a great John L. song."

I know they both have different unique voices and if I actually think about it I could easily say which is which but to me it just... all sounds like TMBG. I literally do not care which one of them is singing, I love them both.

Anyone else feel the same way or are you all like super aware of which song is which John's?

By the way, loving the new album, regardless of who is singing.

Catch Christy Costello on their way to Pouzza on Friday at Monkey House with Dog Water, The Pilgrams and We're Here! To Kill

Christy Costello is stopping by Burlington with a full band this Friday, May 15 at Monkey House.

"Christy Costello is a mover and a shaker in the Twin Cities Music Scene. Hailing from the Iron Range of Northern Minnesota, she is no stranger to the great outdoors. Her music blends the ferocity and rawness of nature’s elements, the new and exciting energy of a house show, mixed with the adrenaline rush of an all-night downtown disco."

Also playing are The Pilgrams (rock) from Windsor, and locals Dog Water (garage/indie) and We're Here! To Kill (grunge/alt).

Gonna be a great night. UVM grads, bring your parents!

Show starts at 7:30, $10.

Here's a quick playlist with 2 songs from each band: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4LZqxTglHUO3rSmTdCU5ru?si=2CYOULoFSTi54hP0uIECbg&pi=xrq8UhTVSuCse

I personally can't wait... Christy has been one of the nicest people to ever reach out in setting up a show, and I've been blasting the From the Dark album for a couple months now. We've also been trying to play with The Pilgrams for a bit and are excited to finally make it happen. Plus WHTK is always a treat, and we have a pretty fun set ourselves planned to end the night.

See you there?

Taking my wife to visit Northshire Books this weekend and this is one part of the state we haven't spent much time in. Any hidden gems? Non-hidden gems? Coming from the north so anything on route 7-ish. The weather is supposed to be somewhat questionable, not really great for a picnic at one of the lakes. Any advice would be great! Thanks!
