This is the sixth album in a series, check out parts One, Two, Three, Four, and Five here!
Back in the studio once again, the Quasars’ two head songwriters were at an impasse. Linnell wanted their next record to expand upon the sound of Spines, while Flansburgh wanted to go in a completely new direction inspired by Funk, R&B, Jazz and Latin music. The five piece band held a vote to decide the record’s direction and Flansburgh’s vision won 3-2. This action unsurprisingly led to tension within The Twin Quasars during the following sessions and caused a major strain on Linnell and Flansburgh’s creative partnership, with Linnell continuing to push back on the new sound. In the end, to minimize any more hurt feelings, the Quasars decided to finish the album as tensionless as possible then enter an indefinite hiatus to focus on solo projects. The Twin Quasars’ final* album, Mink Car, released in December 1970 to mixed reactions and poor sales, but has since become a fan favorite oddity.
The Twin Quasars are a 1960s time swap of They Might Be Giants.

Recently found on a fellow users GDrive, a compilation of tracks called Refueled Hyperfreaked Funkcycle Volume 2 (which honestly makes me want to find Volume 1).
Google has no clue this exists. Does anyone here? I'd like to know what the heck versions some of these tracks are.
Is this song popular at your corps? It's been a thing at almost every corps I've marched. Trying to see how far the influence spreads
Just curious, to those of you who attend concerts or even those who wish they attended, what is your favorite TMBG song they open the show with? Or what would be your ideal show opener? Myself, I love a show starting out with Subliminal, because JL rockin’ out on the accordion!
Get it? Barr-Nunn, like Bar-None Records (the record label they used to be signed to)!
The whole world has slipped away...
I've often wondered if this Looney Tunes moment inspired the TMBG song
This is so surreal
Tattoo done by Danielle Holyoak at Venus Tattoo in Sebastopol, CA.
Learned about this from TMBW earlier. https://tmbw.net/wiki/Videos_Directed_By_John_Flansburgh
I've always thought the sample was kind of interesting and I wanted to heard it by itself and had thought about maybe using it in a song I may or may not write.
I've tried looking all over for an isolated clip of the snippet, and I really don't want to have to sit through a bunch of Televangelist sermons to find it.
Has anyone uploaded the clip online anywhere?
He would also like to mention that you can go to investigatorsbooks.com . "Its not just to buy the books, there's like games and stuff."
Basically it’s Flood but remade with official / fan made music videos. Live action, animation, MS paint, stop motion, and even AMVs there all here. Jump in and see the creativity of the fandom.
I couldn’t find a fan-made video for “Road movie to Berlin” so I just used a video of them playing it live.
