I added web search to Pi using DeepSeek's undocumented web_search endpoint

pi install npm:pi-deepseek-search

DeepSeek's Anthropic endpoint supports web search but doesn't document it. Works with your existing DeepSeek key, no extra setup. Only works with DeepSeek models since the tool runs server side.

Wrote about finding it & how it works: https://musaab.io/posts/2026/deepseek-search

Previous post: "German visa accepted in 12 working days" (search my profile, it's a post on this sub back in May of 2025)

Indian passport, student. Same conference as last year, just different dates. Mid July this time.

Mar 7: Submitted a proposal to give a talk at the conference, still haven't heard back on whether it's been accepted.

Apr 10-15: Emailed the organizers asking for a signed invitation letter on conference letterhead. Drafted it myself from last year's sponsorship letter and sent it over as a Google Doc, just needed a signature. Got it back on the 15th.

Apr 15: Booked VFS appointment for Apr 30 at Delhi. Chose Business visa this time. Last year the VFS staff actually told me my application fell under Business visa, not Tourist, but I had avoided it because the checklist asked for a letter from an Indian company and I'm a student with no Indian employer. This time I just went ahead with it anyway and it was fine. Appointment slots were available much earlier compared to last time.

Apr 30: VFS Delhi. Only removed my PAN, that's it. Same evening three SMS updates back to back, dispatched to Operation Center, received, then sent to the German Embassy.

May 4: SMS that it reached the Embassy for processing.

May 6: In transit back from Embassy, received at Operation Center, dispatched via courier, all same day.

May 7: Got my passport back with a 1 Year Multi-Entry Schengen Visa. I never applied for multi-entry, wasn't expecting it. Prior travel was Germany last year for the same conference, and IETF 125 in Shenzhen, China in March on an F-type visa. That's about it.

5 working days (May 1st was Labour Day). Last time was 12.

If you think just because YOU didn't cheat you won't pay for students who do cheated, think again. In the best case scenario course team will keep increasing the difficulty level of OPPE until YOU start struggling or OPPE would be removed / weightage would be heavily decreased like they are doing with assignments in foundation that don't even give you any course grade at all but yet is still mandatory regardless, miss a few assignments you won't be able to give end term and have to repeat whole course. Stop endorsing such behavior.

Not even mentioning how bad this looks on the degree and will only fuel arguments against the existence of this online degree. Remember for every one guy publicly talking about cheating, there are maybe a hundred who are silently cheating.

Never thought I'd be banned before radiant rain. Funny how the sub about freedom of speech thanks you for speaking against students who cheat. I'm the mod of this subreddit, if you want to post, I recommend please post here. And if you have any questions, you can always DM me, my DMs are open.

Big win for anyone who thought I criticized this degree too much. Now they probably won't even hear my criticisms.

I'll try to improve the subreddit over time and make it more appealing for students to post. Let me know if you would like some sort of feature or something like that.
