LETS TALK ABOUT SHORT TERM FROG HOTELS - do you have one?

LETS TALK ABOUT SHORT TERM FROG HOTELS - do you have one?

So I have been on a mission to bring life back into my little block of Uptown after realizing all of the renovations in the last 15 years have erased most of the overgrown lots. The blight wasn't nice, but the greenery helped the ecosystem more than I realized at the time.

My nighttime natural noise (crickets, frogs, and toads) have basically disappeared. Same with daytime stuff like eastern box tortoises. This has been a multifaceted effort, and I have planted many things on my property.

Next on the agenda is frogs. I used to have tree frogs! They would tend to place themselves in bad spots like door jambs and windows. They got accidentally smashed sometimes, but they made frog noises.

I was reading up on how to create habitats for them, and I learned about frog hotels. Have any of you built a frog hotel or frog habitat? Can you share your results?

Do you feel hair/glam metal versus alt rock was a divide between us and later Gen X?

“Gen X” born in 78. Most of the older X’rs I know as well as my elder cousins had an appreciation for hair metal and glam that I thought was totally fake and cheesy as a teen. Being an old fart I’ll listen to some of those tracks if they are playing - but I don’t have the love for bands like Kiss, Motley Cru, Twisted Sister etc that a lot of older X’rs do. I also listened to a lot more rap and electronic music, but the tastes of older X’rs seem to be much more binary.

Is this a Xennial thing or just my personal situation?

I'm old and I want to relearn / practice Flatland BMX weekly.

I went to a few of the rollerblading classes with my wife at crecent park last year. It was fun to try something I haven't done since the 90's but I wasn't really into blading when I was younger. I was into BMX freestyle. I have been watching videos of old dudes who are doing flatland again and it's been kind of motivating. I want to learn and re-learn stuff.

I'd like to put together a group that's about meeting up at a spot and practicing in the evening like once a week / listening to music. For fun and exercise.. They have a similar skateboard dad type group in the channel that I think seems like what I'm going for.

Not trying to create a wheelie bike rollout group, that's already covered here. If this niche interest seems like something you might be interested in PM me or post here. I think it might take a bit to find a group.

EDIT : to be clear I'm not a prodigy rider. I'm a 40 something who has not been doing enough exercise for a while. If you suck it's ok. So do I!

Squirt anyone?

I'm not usually much of a soda drinker, but I got a case of this while out of town on a camping trip for the hell of it.

It was really good. Also made an excellent mixer with Rum. I don't think they sell this in town - does anyone know of a place that sells it locally?

Anyone else TOTALLY impressed by the super cool dude riding a dirt bike on the Audubon loop this evening?

I was enjoying a pleasant evening bike ride around the park when I was surprised by a totally awe inspiring person riding a full size gas dirt bike in the park. I mean, how cool can you possibly be right?

He even had a super cool black hood over his head! Woah! Basically a ninja!

Did anyone catch what I’m sure was an awe inspiring wheelie sesh once he got into the loop? I’ll bet everyone loved that.
