Trying to get the 5% discount and neither code seems to work. Is this just me? Is there a new coupon code?

I have a 2021 Seagate SRD00F1 4TB that is currently collecting dust connected to my PS5. It has USB 3.0 and works just fine, and wondering how I can best use it for the steam machine.

From what I’ve read, I could play older/not so demanding native steam games on it and it will play fine, just not anything modern (2020 and beyond?)

The thing I was really interested is adding my emulated games that I currently enjoy on my Steam Deck onto this HDD to play on the steam machine. I have every system up into the current gen (switch 1 and prior). Would an older external HDD be suitable for emulating what I have in mind? Am I right in assuming that I can also store older steam games and play them just fine off an HDD as well?
