Unpopular Opinion: Cheapest Cleaning Companies Hurt the Entire Industry

For me personally, I think the cheapest cleaning companies hurt the entire industry.

I understand businesses want to save money, but I’ve seen companies drastically underbid jobs just to win contracts. In many cases, that leads to rushed work, poor quality, unhappy employees, and clients developing unrealistic expectations about pricing.

I believe professional cleaning services should be valued for reliability, quality, communication, and consistency — not just whoever gives the lowest number.

What do you think? Do low prices hurt the industry, or is it just part of competition?

Things Every Cleaning Company SHOULD Have Before Taking Commercial Contracts

Before taking on commercial cleaning contracts, every company should have a few professional essentials in place:

• Insurance – Protects your business in case of accidents, damages, or liability claims.

• COI (Certificate of Insurance) – Many commercial clients will request this before allowing you on-site.

• W-9 Form – Needed for vendor setup and tax reporting purposes.

• Website – Helps establish credibility and allows potential clients to learn more about your services.

• Google Business Profile – Increases online visibility and helps clients find reviews, photos, and contact information.

• Professional Email – A business email looks far more credible than a personal Gmail or Yahoo address.

• Basic Proposal Template – Makes your company look organized and helps present pricing/services professionally.

Having these basics in place can make a huge difference when trying to land larger commercial contracts.

Has anyone here tried Meta Verified for their business? Is it actually worth it?

I keep seeing Meta Verified pushed on Instagram/Facebook for businesses and I’m curious if anyone has seen real benefits from it.

Things I’m wondering about:

  • Better customer trust?
  • More reach or engagement?
  • More leads?
  • Faster support from Meta?
  • Any actual ROI?

Or has it mostly just been another monthly subscription with little impact?

Would love to hear real experiences from other business owners.
