How to replicate CRT look? What do I do wrong?

Hi guys,

I have SNES, PS1 & PS2. I mostly play those consoles on Sony Trinitron M2100K.

I recently bought Retrotink 4K CE and I wanted to try connecting it to LG B9 with hope to replicate that CRT look/feel on my TV.

I focused mostly on PS1, I've connected PS1 to Retroink via SCART cable and then to TV.

If someone likes to play without any CRT filters and don't mind, I think it does a quite good job. However I wanted to have CRT-like feel because I believe that's how those games were meant to play.

Initially I've experimented a bit on my own with Scanlines options etc. I've installed the latest hardware. Eventually I've started to test different profiles for CRT like PVM ones etc.

To be honest, nothing is even close to real CRTs as far as I am concerned. Not only colors usually do seem to look a bit different, but also with those "masks" there are some artifacts that happens when characters/backgrounds move.

Am I doing something wrong? I honestly expected something better, but it's also possible that I am just doing something incorrectly, perhaps didn't calibrate something or whatever. I think I've tried all CRT profiles and I didn't think anyone of them were particularily good. Maybe it would be better with VGA dongle? Or should I look for different profiles online?

I literally tried different filters, then I switched to Trinitron and I was like "Trinitron looks 10x better"

Do you have any tips?

Thx!

Sony Trinitron KV-M2100K - question

Hi everyone!

Today I bought M2100K to replace my M1400K. I am still quite new to crt gaming so I am inexperienced in analysis of CRTs and troubleshooting.

I would like to hear your opinion about the geometry based on 240 test suite grid. To me it seems ok-ish but it could use a slightly better centering.

  1. As far as I know, 2100K doesn't have service menu so it's not possible to center the screen programatically. Is it difficult to center it manually without any experience? Is it worth it based on the screenshot?

  2. What do you think about gemoetry? Not sure if grid alone is enough to determine.

Thanks in advance for your feedback and opinions!

Lucid Dreaming - going one level deeper

Hi,

I have been sporadically having lucid dreams as a child. In my teens I've explored subject a bit more and I was doing a lot of 4+1 technique at that time with some great results.

Yesterday I've decided to give it a try after many years of not doing anything in that regard. It was actually much easier to get into lucid dream this time, as since last time I experimented a lot with meditation etc. Overall I feel like I have much more control over the process of falling asleep.

I did 4+1 and then I laid down on my back, closed eyes and slowly the dream states started to increase, while I was able to maintain some awareness. I've started to see images(I've noticed it in the past that this is one of the first things that start to happen), then later came some semi-lucid dreaming, still partially aware of the body sensation, not fully immersed in the dream. Later I got very strong feeling of "vibration" throughout my body and eventually I have transitioned to a normal lucid dream, I was no longer aware of body sensations, I was full time in for a few minutes.

However, when I was experimenting with lucid dreaming in the past, there was one time when I went one level deeper. The experience was a bit different from usual lucid dreams and more intense.

I think I was also doing 4+1 that day. I've started to see vivid images, kind of transitioning to that dream state, I was semi lucid, however then something unexpected has happened. Suddenly I've started spiralling down from sky to the ground(in spiraling motion). After I landed / hit the ground, there was boom, I was in a body. I was in a world, that I could explore. It was still kind of like lucid dream, but it felt much more stable. It felt like landing in a different world and almost having an actual body. I don't remember also all the details but I feel it lasted longer than other lucid dreams that I had.

Did anyone else experienced anything like that?

Hello fellow wielders!

I have a question about how you approach difficulty in the game and overall how to get better at game.

I am playing through everything for the second time(lost all saves on linux ^^") and I did all campaigns, story missions etc. on "Fair mode".

3rd/4th missions in base campaign some time were a bit difficult(but still feels much easier now as compared to when I played it for the first time... or I just got better).

On Conquer maps I find "Fair mode" to be way too easy, but... I still like to completely dominate the map, not only finishing the objective. I like to conquer everything, the round around the enemy and destroy it:p so even if I know it's too easy, I still play it and enjoy the game like that.

However now I am thinking about increasing the difficulty at least by 1 level.

I wonder if you have any thoughts/feelings how it went on your side, perhaps any tips for higher difficulty(do I focus only on objectives?) etc.
