Bad show runners?

I recently discovered the series on Hulu and am currently close to the end of season 3. It started very strong. Case of the week with a brilliant but complicated hero.

But it all went down the drain. And that's ot because of the actors. It's that what the series wants us to believe doesn't match what the series shows. Will Trent has become the most unlikable, egocentric, passive aggressive idiot i have ever seen. He cares about himself, and only about himself. Far away from the "oh Will cares about everyone but himself" the other characters keep telling about. He's ice cold and bathes in guilt, enjoying it every second. He cares a lot about himself with his expensive cars, hightech entertainment and custom-tailored suits. He might protect himself with it, that still means he cares about himself. Everytime he cries, it's because of self-pity and I'm annoyed.

I heard that the books have a different tone, where this topic of guilt actually makes sense. So, who is to blame? The screen writers, the show runners?

I don't think i will continue after season 3. Unless you tell me, that something drastically changes in season 4?

Is that sheep looking at me

I hope people will understand the purpose of this post.

So, while watching yet another game of ITSLAM (I'm addicted), I spotted a mechanism loophole, that I think needs to be fixed with official rules.

Most of the challenge cards are against another player. That's good. You can't just discard someone's sheep, you have to win a toin coss.

But the rules were obviously created with equal boards in mind. It is harder to make the decision to draw a challenge card, when your own stock is in danger.

Most Hermits therefore play the simplest of strategies: just don't put anything on the board ever until the last few rounds. Result: they can play challenge cards without ever having to fear an actual loss, when losing the coin toss. And the winner of the coin toss gets betrayed of their potential win.

That doesn't feel right. Somehow unfair. It should be rule that such cards can only be played, if you have something on the board as well. That would give the challenge cards the intended weight.
