Any tips? 20M

Been investing since my first part time job back in high school into ETFs, now I got a full time job in the industry while studying for my career on the side (flight school).

I invest now 20% of my paycheck into the same 3 ETfs twice a month.

I’m going to probably max my tfsa contributions for this year, but was waiting for the ETFs to go down a bit. (Im aware you shouldn’t time the market).

As for next year, I might be able to maximise my contributions at the start of the year in January and get to 20K with the help of my parents too.

Grateful if so of course, but just wanted friendly advice as I’m not an expert by any means in investing.

Edit: as for the 3 ETFs I’m investing in:
55% VFV
25% XEF
20% XIU

My logic when I did my research a few years ago was to keep it spread out, look for a good etf for the American market, one for the Canadian one and one for the rest of world.

Gracias y vamos River🙏

Looking for resources to learn medicine as a hobby/passion

Hi everyone,

I’m 20 years old, currently in flight school. Medicine has always been something that’s fascinated me, and I’d really like to start learning more about it not because I’m planning to apply to medical school right away, but because I genuinely want to understand it better.

I’m really intrigued by how the human body works, why diseases happen, how different body systems interact, and how doctors approach diagnosing and treating patients.

Right now, I’m just looking to build a strong
foundation in general medicine. I’d love recommendations for things like:
\\\\-Free or affordable online courses
\\\\-YouTube channels
\\\\-Books
\\\\-Websites
\\\\-Certificates of completion (not required, but a nice bonus)
\\\\-Any structured learning paths that start from the basics

If I end up loving it even more, maybe one day I’ll consider pursuing it academically. But for now, I simply want to learn because I enjoy the subject.
I’d really appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

Has anyone here used Winlevi? Looking for honest long-term experiences.

Hi everyone,

I’m 20 years old (M) and I’ve had acne since I was around 14. I’ve been using azelaic acid for about 4 months, and it has definitely helped, but my dermatologist wants me to start using Winlevi alongside it.

I’ve been reading a lot of Reddit posts, and I’ve seen some people mention rebound acne after stopping Winlevi. I’ve also come across discussions about TSW, although I’m not sure if that’s even relevant since Winlevi isn’t a topical steroid.

For those of you who have actually used Winlevi:
\\-Did it help your acne?
\\-How long did it take before you noticed results?
\\-Did you experience any side effects?

If you stopped using it, did your acne simply return to its previous level, or did it become worse than before?

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have used it for several months or longer. Thanks!

Best 3 nights getaway from Toronto?

Hey everyone! I live in Toronto and I’m looking for some trip ideas.

I’d love to take my mom away for 3 nights, but I’m having a hard time deciding where to go. We’ve already been to quite a few places in the U.S., so we’re thinking about somewhere a little different.

We’re also heavily thinking of the Caribbean but since I’ve only been there once, I’m not sure where to start from.

If you’ve done a great 3-night getaway, where would you recommend?

Thank you!

Timeline: 3 nights

Hotel: Hotel should be relatively in a good location relative to the airport and the beach.

Flights: Ideally direct from Toronto.

Budget: Not looking to break the bank, but flight tickets is not the problem. Hotel maybe around 300-400$.

We’re open to Europe (Paris has crossed our minds!) or anywhere else that’s worth visiting for a short trip, and doesn’t require too much travel once we’re there.

Do you consider Mexico a bigger team than Spain in recent years?

I’ll give you a very interesting fact.

Since 2010, Mexico has double the wins Spain has in the World Cup.

20M Where to go for my first solo journey for 4 days?

Where to go for my first solo journey at 20 for 4 days?

I speak English, Spanish, Romanian and French, and the money for flights is not a problem to anywhere in the world.

I’m a little bit used with very short layovers of a day as I’m crew.

I’m from Europe originally, and maybe travelling in Europe would be nice, but I’m not familiar with the hostel culture whatsoever. I’ve never been to one.

I’m an extrovert if I get to know the people, but not the most extrovert when it comes to going up to random groups of people. Wouldn’t say I’m an introvert tho.

Lastly, as far as I know, hostel culture is sharing a room with 4 other people, how is that for first time?

Gracias!!!!

20 Years Old - ETFs Are My Foundation, But What Else Should I Start Investing In?

I’m 20 years old with roughly a ~$22k net worth currently. I am in university with a full time job.

I have around ~$14k cash, ~$7.5k invested in ETFs inside my TFSA, and a smaller crypto position. I started investing in April 2024 and my TFSA is currently up about 17% all time.

I also help my parents out every now and then with 3000$ payments because they help me a lot as well of course.

Right now I invest 15% of every paycheck automatically:
-10% into ETFs
-5% into crypto

ETF allocation is mainly:
-VFV (55%)
-XEF (25%)
-XIU (20%)

Crypto is mostly:
BTC; ETH; SOL

I make roughly ~$3k/month currently and get paid twice per month.

I’m definitely continuing the ETF strategy long term, but I also want to start putting another ~5–10% of my income + an initial ~$500 into something more aggressive/high-upside while I’m still young and living at home.

Lately I’ve been researching things like:
AI industry (ETFs perhaps)
Single stocks (companies I believe in)
-Real estate / REITs
-Private equity
-Bond trading
-Inflation indexed funds
-Venture capital
-US treasuries

Etc

  1. Which of these actually make sense for someone my age and capital level?
  2. What would you personally prioritize?
  3. What’s the smartest way to start getting exposure without doing something stupid?

Thanks!

Edit: I have a debit/credit cards however will look into HISA accounts too.
