How long did you experience halos after trifocal RLE surgery?

I had my RLE exchange surgery doe 6 weeks ago for righ eye and 2 weeks ago for the left eyes. Both eyes have PanOptix ProTri-focal lens and my vision has improved remarkably for both near, intermediate and far.

However, the halos at night are terrible. I see at least five or six rings around car headlights and street lights in the evening. This causes confusion while driving at night because I cannot judge the distance and dimension of a vehicle; each headlight appears about three feet wide.

I have read that neuroadaptation varies from person to person but what has been your experience around halos ?

My Experience with Alcon PanOptix Pro Trifocal lens implant on June 30th

On June 30th, I received an Alcon Trifocal implant, a lens for which my surgeon convinced me with some strong performance data for minimizing halos. Overall I am very happy and wished I should have done it sooner.

I am already noticing excellent outcomes on day 6, I can read my phone without glasses, see clearly the desktop screen . Never knew that iPhone fonts look so beautiful and flower colors are so bright.

The far vision is still bit blurry but hoping this would improve over time . My second eye surgery is scheduled for the same tri-focal lens in three weeks.

The key benefits my surgeon shared with me with this type of lens were (not saying the the best for everyone)

  • The central 4.5mm diffractive zone limits scatter at larger pupil sizes (dim light)
  • ENLIGHTEN technology directs ~88% of light to useful focal points, minimizing stray light
  • Merging the quad focal points into three reduces ghosting "echoes".The PanOptix is technically based on a quadrifocal platform but tuned to act as a trifocal by merging the 32" intermediate and near focal points more efficiently.
  • Glistening-free Clareon material has lower internal light scatter than older acrylic

What I have read from few similar posts is that in PanOptix Pro, halos tend to peak in the first few weeks post-op as the brain neuro adapts.

The halo pattern I typically notice is a soft glow rather than sharp rings, and hoping this would diminish significantly by 3–6 months.

Overall I am very happy and wish I should have done it sooner.

PanOptix Trifocal (Standard + Toric combo) coming up in 2 weeks. Anyone have this specific setup?

My surgeon has recommended the PanOptix Trifocal for my upcoming cataract surgery a standard PanOptix in one eye and a PanOptix Toric in the other. Paying out of pocket and the cost is enormous.

Because one of my corneas isn't perfectly round, the surgeon detected a slight astigmatism and wants to use the Toric lens in that eye to correct it. My first surgery is coming up in exactly two weeks.

For context, I see clearly at a distance and only wear glasses for reading and compute work.

I would love to hear about your experiences if you have this combination of lenses (Panoptx Pro with Toric and PanOptix Pro) in your eyes.

What was outcome after the surgery ? How did you feel between first and second eye surgery ?
