Rec for two Ice Queens?

I’m not a huge fan of speculative fic, but enjoy most other sub-genres and tropes. Would love to read about two powerful, closed-off women mutually melting the other and with some decent spice, would be lovely. TIA.

Just finished Sunburn audiobook. O.M.G.

I am so many feelings all at once over this gorgeous book. I am undone. Can’t think of the last book that did this to me. Thank you to all who have recommended it!

Looking forward to reading Chloe Michelle Howarth’s sophmore offering.

Assaulted, by my library, no less!

I’m just having a quiet Sunday; perusing the Libby app for my next audiobook. I’m reading the description and like what I see, harkening back to my own high school and college years of the 90s. And then I glance to the right and am (figuratively) slapped in the face with one of the classifications for the book!

Can’t we all agree a book can’t be historical fiction if it happened in one’s lifetime?!

May reads

I was all over the place in May.

I enjoyed all of my fluffier lesbian romance reads this month.

Death of a Salesman was a bit of a family therapy book club my brother and I held. Nothing lesbian about it, lol.

I got a bit fatigued on Wulf and Wynd…I found book 2 the most disappointing, the density of crises and skewering events got to be a bit much.

I have read Sinclair’s and McKay’s books but listening to the audio was a first. I thought Abby Craden elevated things for the Carlisle series but was disappointed by her performance of Magdalene Nox.

I’ve started down an Anne Lister rabbit hole mainly after seeing the Northern Ballet Company in the UK has created a ballet based on her life. (Then I watched the HBO series for the first time) This first-of-its-kind lesbian ballet has spoken to me on a surprising level. So much so, I have splurged on a trip to go see it in September. My family went to the local ballet performances regularly as a kid and getting the chance to see representation of lesbian stories in this art form is healing something for me I didn’t realize was needed. Really liked Steidele’s biography, did not care for Choma’s…she didn’t bring in direct quotes often enough for my liking…we had to rely on her interpretation of the diaries, instead, for some key parts, IMO.

Beirut Taco, 39th and Bell

So good!

They’re in the old d’Bronx space.

The Kibbe Queso Fundido and the Tres Leches cake were the faves. Chicken Shawarma burrito was also good, a bit heavy on the rice but I’d still get it again. The Sumac Chicken Flautas had a weird flavor component, I think in one of the sauces, that didn’t blend well with the rest of it, if you could avoid it they were quite tasty. Definitely going back to try more!

I REALLY enjoyed Atmosphere, although I may have been cursing TJR for dragging me through all my emotions. It’s the first book I’ve read by her.

Amy Hoff’s was just ok, writing wasn’t great and I am usually fairly forgiving on that front. But I like the premise.

First time readin X-ingredient in it’s published form…such a different book from its DWP fanfic origins, loved it!

Omegaverse (Iron Edge) and violent trauma dumps (The Lay of You) aren’t my usuals, but enjoyed both of these well enough.

And I liked the others, too.
