kane frizz

kane frizz

i just discovered OSW after seeing someone mention kane frizz in a comment section, and as someone who was absolutely captivated by the frizz progression during my first watch of the 2001 royal rumble, i was thrilled to find out there's a community of us out there who are enthralled by this phenomenon.

i just wanted to share an honorable mention which is the steel cage match against triple h (february 1, 1999) kanes hair is visibly dripping from the ends when he comes down the ramp, but somehow during the twelve minute scuffle, his hair dries up HUGE. like you have to see it for yourself to believe it because these pictures don't even do it justice. this could possibly break the frizz meter. i'm thinking somewhere near 150%

it's also notable that x-pac comes out and legitimately splits kane open with the steel door, which leaves the mop visibly streaked with blood by the end of the match reducing the frizz level down to about 75%, so the maximum frizz is short-lived, but still unbelievable to see.

just a compliment

i just discovered this podcast after listening to the 'kane will set himself on fire' episode, and i literally had to rip my airpods out of my ears to avoid laughing out loud at work. the electrolarynx impressions were killing me. i then listened to the katie vick episode, and somehow they even made that train-wreck funny. it looks like they covered most of kanes monumental moments, but they need to do more kane-centered episodes because the way they talk about him is hilarious. definitely happy i discovered this pod.

kane identity

to any wrestling fans that closely followed the kane storyline, i'm curious if his identity was widely known prior to his unmasking? it's incredibly rare to find behind the scenes photos of him without the mask before 2003, and from all the interviews and podcasts i've listened to it sounds like glenn jacobs put a tremendous amount of effort into protecting kayfabe.

did people catch on once he started speaking? or did he remain completely anonymous until the moment the mask came off? i would also like to know how many people immediately recognized him as isaac yankem after his face reveal and if it took away any of the mystique/scariness from the kane character?

also, was his hair supposed to appear charred off? it doesn't make any sense that he had wrestled with his luscious locks for years, but when it came time to unmask they decided to confuse everyone into thinking kane had been donning a wig and was still botched from the fire. were people supposed to believe he still had soot on his face after 20 years? LOL

kerry von erich

i recently learned about the von erich family and am so unbelievably intrigued by the fact that kerry von erich wrestled for years with a partially prosthetic foot. if there is anyone in this subreddit that has been following wrestling for 40+ years, i'm curious if there was any speculation that he may have had the amputation? were there rumors? knowing now that he had a prosthetic, it's easier to notice that his right boot appeared fuller. i know there's a story about his boot being pulled off during a match, but did word spread and did people believe it? or did it seem like a made up story since the von erichs were insistent that kerry was healed? thanks!
