A guy I met on international trip complimented me on my looks. Didn't know how to react.
So I recently went to Nepal for a trek. During the trek I happened to interact with people of many nationalities since I was trekking solo and I'm kinda extrovert to some extent. I met a white European guy and we were having casual conversation. He mentioned how he visited India and had some little romance with an Indian girl. I told how Indian women love white guys, and we laughed it off. I was mentioning how many white guys posted on Reddit and Twitter that getting dates in India was easy for them. Then he asked if the colorism is real and straight forward in India. I told that it's not outright but kinda subtle. I even told how it's less about colour but more about nationality.
Then he went on to say "You're a pretty guy man. You must have dated many women." I was taken back a little. For context I'm 29 year old brown/dark south Indian medium height (5 feet 9 inches) and used to be little on overweight before but now I am in good shape (not gym types but lost the belly fat, 76 kgs) as I started running and changed my food habits. I jave never dated any woman seriously nor any girl jas remotely shown any interest in me as far as I remember. I had a situationship with one girl where at the end the girl portrayed it like she was never interested in me but only I was interested. I have not even held hands of any girl except for my female friends, let alone anything physical. I have got compliments for my smile from few guys but nothing beyond that. This statement kinda surprised me. It got me thinking if I am not putting myself out there properly or if women around me have high or different standards which I am not able to match. I do go to socialising events in Bangalore like run clubs, group treks, jamming sessions, other meetups but nothing came out of that except for few contacts in whatsapp/Instagram.
I used Hinge once and I matched with a scammer, I roasted her and my account got permanently banned. Never tried any other dating apps as I am not really confident about my looks.
