Getting VU meter back

Studio One 6 Pro user. Had the free VU meters since forever. Now they don’t show up and I can’t figure out how to get them back. I’ve not done the fender account (don’t really care to, to be honest) so I’m hoping I can get them to come back without doing all that. They aren’t showing in any of my VST plugin folders. It’s like they just vanished.

Appreciate the help.

To double or not to double guitars

My standard approach has always been to double all rhythm guitars (except bass). All natural doubles too. That was however when it was just me working on songs.

I’ve recently written a song that features 3 guitar parts on it and I’m wondering if doubling all of that will lead to it sounding over produced in a way?

All 3 guitar parts are different guitars, different amps and different players.

What says you? Would you double, or have you doubled, songs with 3 distinct guitar parts?

Sounds from your childhood you still find creepy

Was thinking about this yesterday. Sounds you heard in your childhood that for one reason or another stuck with you as an adult. For me it’s

Train whistles
Wind chimes

Train whistles because of Dennis the Menace. I thought that’s how bad people got around so when I heard a train horn, especially at night, I thought a criminal was coming to town. Even in my thirties I still get creeped out by train whistles at night.

Wind chimes because of the movie twister. Still give me this eerie feeling on a stormy day to hear them.

What’s yours?
