My Adventure Cat Boudica is 9 Years Old Today! 🥳

This is my sweet but sassy calico cat Boudica who was destined for a life of adventure.

First, she worked with me at a wilderness therapy drug rehab center, then we lived regular house-life for a few years with frequent leash walks around the yard.

Now, we’ve been living in a van for over 3 years!

These days, I only put her on a leash when I must (e.g. when it’s required in National Parks). Other than that, she wears a collar with an AirTag and seems to understand where camp is, that the van is home, and that staying with mama = safety.

I can’t believe she’s been my best bud for almost a decade now—longer than most people I know! So I thought I’d share with yall. :)

Healing, but glass-like feeling in urethra?

37F who has always gotten occasional UTIs post-sex and never when single/celibate.

Recently starting dating my bf in Dec. Got my first-in-a-long-time UTI in Jan. Took Macrobid, was good until May. Took Bactrim, was good for 1 month until June (earlier this month).

This June one—first I was prescribed 5 days of Macrobid and it helped, I was off it for a day, and then the next day my symptoms came back.

Then, I took 5 days of Bactrim, did NOTHING for the first time ever. I developed bad kidney pain.

Now, I’ve taken 3 days of Cipro, and the kidney pain is completely gone. But I still have a feeling like there is a piece of glass in the tip of my urethra, even when I’m walking around. I don’t have the typically burning when peeing—it’s just a sharp discomfort near the exit. Persistent. It’s very unlike any other UTI I’ve ever gotten.

Could it be a kidney stone? The test strips showed only leukocytes, no nitrates. On Friday, I am going to get a culture done. I’m just wondering if I should request more cipro or if it’s a kidney stone instead of a UTI. I’m so confused.

And I am going to ask my doctor about Hiprex on Friday as well!!

Thank you!
