TL;DR: Picked up a woman from a party a little after midnight and played a song i never heard the lyrics of and the song was ABBA’s Gimme a man after midnight. I added the song to my playlist recently because i loved hearing the melody that was used separately in the 90’s as intro to TV shows in my home country and i didn’t even know it was from an actual song until now. The most intense and embarrassing 30 minutes of my life. Pax kept quiet and started playing her own videos like 3 songs later so i stopped my music for the rest of the ride. No 1 ⭐️ yet.

Let me preface this by saying i don’t listen to music at all except during driving for Uber so i speak very good English but I barely know anything about American music. I live in the US now and this weekend i went to pick up a lady from a party a little after midnight. Uber told me to go to the back of the building and she called and told me to come to the front and she was clearly annoyed by that. I was playing my native language song when she came in but i changed it to an English song to make her feel comfortable as i do with all passengers. I went to my spotify playlist and clicked on the first song which i added 1-2 days ago without even listening to its content except that i recognized the melody from 20+ years ago when i didn’t even speak English and have never listened to the lyrics yet. 

The song was “Gimme!Gimme!Gimme! A man after midnight” by ABBA. As soon as the lyrics went like “Give me a man after midnight“ my heart sank and i literally began sweating hard and i didn’t know what to do. I had to google the lyrics and history of the song for this post.

The song went like

“Half past twelve” I looked at the clock, 12:35am

”And I'm watching the late show in my flat, all alone, How I hate to spend the evening on my own”, The girl was with her two girlfriends at the party so she most likely is single and was most likely going to be home alone.

”There's not a soul out there, No one to hear my prayer” The road was completely empty and silent.

”Tired of TV, I open the window, and I look into the night, But there's nothing there to see, no one in sight” But i was in sight i guess 😂

I froze once the song started and i wished that the ground would open its big wide mouth and swallow me whole. I thought about skipping the song but I wanted to make it look natural and unintentional which it was so i let it play but I was so embarrassed by the time the ride ended that despite wearing just a shirt my body was covered in sweat from head to toe die to sheer embarrassment. Eventually the song ended but the ride was like 30 minutes long so 1-2 songs later the lady started playing some videos in her phone with the speaker on and i immediately stopped playing music at all. She entered slightly irritated and didn’t greet me even before the unfortunate events but she said thank you at the end and i haven’t received a ⭐️ yet so i hope i am good.

I don’t and have never listened to songs especially English at all except when i am driving for Uber because i am not that into music in general but the melody was so popular that the beginning of it was repeatedly edited and used by my home country’s media networks at the beginning of many types of shows especially sports news so that was all i remembered when i added it to my playlist after spotify suggested it to me and i skipped it with listening to it because i wanted to listen to it later with a lonely woman passenger in the car after midnight jkjk. 

I am trying to start my company but can’t afford insurance in my home state so can someone please help me in finding a parking lot in a cheap insurance area to get a quote so i can decide if i can even do this or not and then move to that state and set up my LLC there?
