This game lacks synergy

Title. Bought the game during the sale and while I think it has potential, I find the glaring lack of synergy pretty boring. It’s hard to “build around” a skill or a set of skills. There aren’t any items that kinda tie things together. This game would immensely benefit from more items along the lines of “casting one skill invokes another” or “doing x action reduces cooldown/restores mana” or just flat out transformative stuff like allowing a skill to access the second mastery somehow.

As it sits now it’s just press buttons, thing happens, move on. Even the auras feel pretty boring. For all the complaints they get, I feel like Diablo 4 and LE do a great job of letting you go deep into a couple of skills and pretty much create a build identity through that. This game has a lot of potential for that with dual masteries, but as it is now it’s just way too elementary.

Barbarian vs. Everything Else + Crit Chance

One of the biggest reasons that Barb is leaps and bounds over every other class is because they get 4 weapons. Generally, this translates into 2-3 more aspects over the other classes as well as a ridiculously higher amount of skill and weapon damage due to being able to use 2 2-Handers.

But there's another more subtle problem here that I feel really became worse during LoH with the removal of passives and even more so with the re-work of Heir of Perdition. And that is the egregious lack of Critical Strike Chance within several builds/classes. Barbarian will automatically be able to get the Heir of Perdition'esque Crit Chance Replacement (Grandfather), while other classes scrape and scrub for Crit chance. For example, Paladin gets no natural Crit Chance without being in Zeal, or shoehorning in fervor/fanaticism. Necro gets a tiny bit of Crit Chance in skills like Decrepify/Bone Mage/Corpse Tendrils, but must otherwise be in Bone to get larger bonuses.

Thus, barbarian automatically gets access to a far larger number of builds because it doesn't have to scrape for Crit Chance. Builds without easily accessible crit chance then have to get it on rings or other equipment or shoehorn it in by using certain skills or items. Doing this destroys build diversity because it makes Crit Chance mandatory, yet inaccessible, But once again, Barb will never have this problem with 4 weapons, one being Grandfather.

So here the thing, either Barb needs to be knocked down, or everything else needs to be brought up. Every class needs to be able to easily have the crit chance accessibility of Barbarian without forcing it into one playstyle. I have a lot of thoughts on this, but it all kind of spirals into class imbalance, item imbalance, and the poor use of the current iteration of the skill tree and unique items - so would love to hear other people's takes as well.

Post an item that invalidates other builds within a class. This way, new players can know what’s A/S tier, and vets can complain!

Ah yes, the 390% bonus for simply existing. Absolutely not one reason to do anything for Druid except be werebear. Storm bear, poison bear, earth bear. BUT BEAR - NOT WOLF, NOT MAN. Annoying pigeonhole.

Gonna vent about Paladin now - stay awhile and listen

The slaps to the face to this class are many. It's like so bad its kinda funny atp.

Lets start with all things Disciple. The charm gives 500x to Disciple skills. The biggest standalone charm buff. Ok hold my beer, let me cook.

Checks notes - the best base dmg Disciple skill seems to be a shittily converted Zealot ultimate.

Ok maybe shard of verathiel and Brandish? Sprinkle some crown of lucion? Oh yeah, no charm for supplication. And Advance Disciple Variant... not only has a cooldown but just places you in the middle of nowhere.

Ok ok - evade and hammers? Ah yes, 30+ skill points for like 3x weapon dmg. Meanwhile nothing scales with wing strikes - the effin thing that comes with the effin ult that is required as part of the effin charm set.

I'd get in into Heaven's Fury and Judgement next but I've already re-annoyed myself. Would love to hear more Paladin venting as I'm trying to theorycraft something T12 boss playable in s14 without the old resolve (delusional, I know).

Necro Blood Wave (I’m over it)

It absolutely disgusts me that this skill gets to remain at 1275% weapon damage instant burst, spammable, hugely scalable, while every other skill (save bone spirit bullshit) is less than 300% season after season. Heck, year after year atp. The parity is so fucking tiresome. Can any other necro skill be allowed to do damage Blizzard?

End rant lol.

Is there hope for this game?

I really find LE to be the best gameplay balance of the modern ARPGs. Sure, the graphics aren’t quite up there with some of the others, bugs are a little more frequent, but this game just does so much right for me. It does a great job at not having you get lost/stuck/confused/soft locked unlike PoE, and the skill tree actually allows for some cool and engaging combo experimentation unlike D4. Idk, LE just clicks and makes sense for me.

Anyway, I just sense that the game/community is dying and that makes me sad. I feel like since the acquisition, there hasn’t been very much good news (or news at all really). I want this game to survive and grow so much. What’s the general consensus? Will this game survive 2026? End rant lol.
