well. done.

a$ap rocky was an absolute class act. he performed here again for the first time in 8 years and put on an amazing performance. our saddledome as yall know is very old and had alot of technical issues, the set started 1hr plus late while they tested lights pyro etc, came out, played random shit like wild for the night and unreleased shit, brought out fellow asap mob member twelvyy, and pushed past curfew to get thru the full expected setlist and more.

there was a part where the power to the dome got cut off and solely his mic was on and he freestyled ABOUT OUR CITY (and lowkey dissed toronto), went backstage and got mad and shit at the organizers and came out and performed and asked the crowd what they wanted to hear. while the power was out he was sitting on the fence of the pit and dapping and shaking peoples hands it was sick as fuck!

asap rocky is one of the best to ever do it and im so glad he was the last major hiphop artist at our saddledome due to it being torn down next year. if you havent seen him I MUST recommend it is ludacris.

why cant i find anything on FOREVERNEVERMORE?

ive been listening to this album alot lately, and its becoming one of those records that changes every time i hear it. what keeps pulling me back is how human it feels. nothing sounds overly polished or concerned with being “perfect.” the conversations, room ambience, gospel, soul, jazz, and house all blend together in a way that makes the album feel less like a collection of tracks and more like a snapshot of a place and a moment in time. as a musician, its really changed how i think about production. im starting to hear these imperfections, weird cuts, and transitions as part of what gives the music its character instead of something that needs to be fixed. every listen reveals another little detail i missed before. tracks like the thief that stole my sad days feel almost spiritual while dont you want my love has this warmth that i cant really explain. forevernevermore almost feels less like an album and more like youre listening in on detroit itself. nothing feels manufactured it all feels lived/broken in like a boot. ive only been sitting with this record for a little while, so im curious about what makes this album so special to some of yall who HAVE listened? what are some details or moments that made it click? i am in no way a househead i just know a little here and there so seeing yalls perspectives on this would be dope

Where do i start?

i been trying to get deeper into aphex twins albums and actually understand them instead of just having them as just regular album listens.

i already really love I Care Because You Do. i cant even fully explain why, but it just feels so raw and emotional in a weird way. like it doesnt try to be clean or polished, it just is. the drums especially hit me hardddd like cow cud actually influenced a lot of my sampling choices when im making music of my own.
but with his other projects (especially stuff like Selected Ambient Works or Drukqs), i feel like im only scratching the surface. i can tell there’s a lot going on and i love the instrumentation (im a sucker for good synthesizers and other weird instruments), but ion really know how to listen to it properly or what i should be paying attention to for it to “click” more beyond just being analytical about it.

for people who are really into his discography, how did u start appreciating it more deeply? did u approach it more technically, emotionally, or just let it grow on u over time?
i feel like if i understand it better, it could really change how i think about sound design and sampling in my own music

How do we feel about Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy?

i am in no way a ride or die public enemy fan but it feels like nobody (at least that i know) talks about this album anymore.

for me this album feels like one of those albums where its not even about “did you like the songs or not,” its more like what it made you feel while it was happening. the whole project sounds so packed and intense, like theres always something going on in the background and just never sitting still lol. the message of the album is actually heavy when you listen to it properly like its not just random bars or lyrics for flow, it feels like theyre really trying to say something about society, media, power, all of that. chuck D sounds super serious and direct, like hes speaking on something way bigger than music, and flavor Flav kind of breaks it up so it doesn’t become too one-notey or too heavy the whole time. and also the first 3 tracks imo have the best beats besides a couple other picks off the album

i feel like its one of those albums where the more u sit with it, the more it starts making sense. it almost feels overwhelming at first but i think thats the point like they wanted it to feel like real life or like how chaotic everything was back then. first listen might just feel like noise or chaos, but after that u start noticing how intentional everything is and how every sound, every sample, every switch up is there for a reason. it doesnt really play like a normal album it feels more like a commentary on the world they lived in

lmk yall lol
