a farewell to London and hello to Edinburgh
The rest of London: hung out w a friend and another close one who is in the discord (actually both are, but the one pictured above is my most offline friend ever and I love that about her), they probably don’t want their faces all over Reddit so I won’t post though I wish to ~ one studies philosophy and the other does film/tv scoring. both are very lovely women, and I’m very happy to have seen them (if only in a different city with more time, we shall meet again in Vancouver or elsewhere).
St. Paul’s cathedral (meh, and you must pay to properly go in, not worth it). I’ve been spoiled by all my travels to Europe throughout my life, please forgive my lack of excitement. Tate Modern was pretty good, mostly for seeing more of Francesca Woodman’s polaroids in-person, and also the Tracey Emin exhibit impacted me very heavily and was quite beautiful, meant a lot to see. I would highly recommend it. The creating out of pain, again and again. Something I know well - also the destruction of work…
Now I’m elsewhere. Edinburgh is of course quite touristy but also really beautiful. I almost studied here (got in for my MA, and ended up doing it at McGill instead where I was also accepted because it was more affordable). A few photos - beautiful cemetery with a (hilarious to me) fenced off grave only because it likely influenced a name in Harry Potter or something lmao (Elizabeth Moodie is the name on the grave)
I bring you the skull of a sperm whale, some airplanes in the national museum of scotland (free so we wondered in), the ceiling of the national museum and gorgeous architecture, the castle, popping into shops to try on (mostly vintage) clothes as they have some gorgeous ones here, unlike london where I could find no good vintage shop that was not y2k trash.
Tomorrow is selfie Saturday, let’s have fun, or at least share some fits
I saw a pelican
And what have you been doing with YOUR life?
All I’ve been doing is looking at things lately and wandering around, clears the soul
going to Edinburgh next
does anyone have fav spots? will be there for a few days ~ I'm really excited to go there, I actually got into grad school there when I applied, but it would have been much more expensive than McGill was for me as a Canadian so I went there instead for my M.A.
looking for new poets to fall in love with
who are your favourite poets, lately?
[Routine Help] How do I layer/use all these actives? Just repaired my skin barrier after severe dehydration and 10+ product overuse. 36F
So I have a very simple routine now, consisting of a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and spf. That's it.
Two years ago I had terribly dehydrated and rather ruined skin from overuse of actives, as well as way too many products at once. I would like to start using some again, but trying to use retinol, AHA, BHA, vitamin C, niacinamide daily was an awful idea.
How do you structure when to use what? Is it based on particular concerns? I have oily sensitive skin that is acne-prone. Luckily, I have very few breakouts now - I actually had way more when I was overusing products.
I would like to start using actives again, but now sure how to introduce them into my routine. I can't do tret/differin as they were much too harsh on my skin, all on their own when I used them without other actives, and actually both made me break out. Naturally oily/sensitive skin, sebaceous filaments, redness (much better now, thanks to using SKIN1004 centella ampoule). I also want to use lasers later this year for hyperpigmentation and overall skin concerns. I'm 36 and a woman.
Any suggestions for setting up a routine that doesn't dehydrate or damage my skin are very welcome!

London sucks
I'm really not into this city. Anyone else feel the same? I've been to some "cooler" places my friends who live here told me to go, and just no. Most of the galleries suck, all the plays are largely musicals too (I can't stand musicals). I never liked the English as a whole though, I only enjoy the company of individual people who just happen to be English. English food also sucks, and I don't feel like eating Indian lately. There's a good lebanese spot close to where I'm staying, at least. The club scene is probably fun and I know there are lots of events, but I've aged out of the party scene, so not interested.
There are some cute streets here and there, but nothing justifies the insane cost of living whatsoever. Also everyone has a perpetually dour expression that is somehow much worse than people in the PNW where I live. The vibe is truly off here - and it's not because I hate big cities, nor crowds. I LOVE NYC and never feel like I don't want to be there when I visit. London though? I'll probably never come back.
Anyone else feel like this?
At least I went to Tate Modern today and saw Tracey Emin's exhibit - really beautiful, connected deeply to it. Found it incredibly moving and also painful to take in.

Happy selfie Saturday, I am in London
Hello! First pic taken of me, not the best one but I liked it. Went to the barbican to check it out and watched the devil wears prada 2, lmao. Stumbled upon a Giacometti exhibit and some other local art shows. The cafe Jolene was SO good. Had to have a little treat.
