I don’t understand

Why stop so far behind the lines?

A handful of times I’ve had to knock on drivers windows to politely tell them to roll up in situations when there’s no other cars to trigger the lights.

Sleep routines when back at work

TLDR; how did you manage sleep routines when both parents are back at work?

Right now my husband and I are still doing sleep shifts to look after our 3 month old. We transitioned him from a bassinet in our room to his cot in his own room from very early on and have sleep shifts so there’s always someone close by when he has his night sleeps.

I sleep 8pm - 2am and my husband sleeps 2am - 10am. It’s worth noting that we’ve got a single bed in the babies room so I can nap while our baby sleeps between 2am - 7am.

I’m not sure when to expect our little guy to sleep through the night, as right now his longest stretch is 3-4 hours between 8pm - 12am then he wakes every 2 hours after that.

This has been easy to manage while we’ve both been lucky enough to be at home together, but my husband goes back to work in August and I’ll be going back part time in September.

Assuming our baby isn’t sleeping through the night by then, would our best option be taking turns each night spending the whole night in the babies room? We won’t be able to keep the current routine as we’ll both need to be up and out of the house by 7am.

Postpartum uniform

This is just a funny observation from getting out and about with my 10wk old.

I decided to buy myself a nice pair of flared leggings from Boody now that they make sizes for shorter women (they’re great by the way!) and I noticed that every other mum with a pram was wearing the same combo as me - flared tights with an oversized shirt/jumper.

Any new mums here wearing the same?

Wild Postpartum Periods

Warning - potential TMI for period related descriptions!

Really curious to hear others experiences with this.

I’m almost 10 weeks PP and I’ve been EFF, so my first period was around 6 weeks PP and wasn’t too unusual other than lasting 7 days. I was lucky to only have 3-4 day periods pre pregnancy.

Now I’m on my second period and holy smokes… it’s a bloodbath! I’m on day 4 and have had to change super/overnight pads every 1.5-2hrs since day 2, and my body aches like I’m getting the flu.

It’s awful, but I’ve been told it’s normal and only need to see a Dr if there’s large clots or am needing to change pads hourly.

I’m hoping it tapers off soon because I feel absolutely wrecked.

Tell me if you experienced similar!

Suggestions for a park/walk track near a cafe between Western Syd and Inner West

I’m trying to find a spot between Western Syd and the Inner West to take my 10 week old to meet some friends for a coffee and a walk with the pram.

I was thinking parramatta park, but I’d love to get some other suggestions to throw into the mix. So far I’ve been searching for parks close to cafes using Google maps, but I’d much prefer suggestions from other mums.

Thanks 🙂

Bottle teat flow

Has anyone held off graduating their LO from super slow flow (ss) to slow (s) teats past 1 month old?

I use Pigeon wide neck bottles and find that my baby takes in a lot of air and seems uncomfortable when I try to progress him to the size s teats. According to the packaging the size s is recommended for 1m+ (he’s almost 8 weeks).

Posting from the other side of pregnancy after having severe SPD and SIJ pain

Posting this for anyone wanting to know my experience postpartum after having severe SPD and SIJ pain while pregnant.

In a nutshell - pre pregnancy I had no pre-existing injuries with my pelvis. I was at my most fit, exercising 6 days a week (strength and athletic Pilates) for the last 4 years. I continued training at my usual intensity until 13 weeks, then gradually dropped down to 5 days a week, 4 days mid trimester 2 then 3 days up until 33 weeks, when the pain was unbearable and I needed to stop.

I altered my exercise appropriately to avoid worsening my pelvic pain (no single leg exercises, dropped weight for anything lower body and did all upper body strength while seated).

I gave birth vaginally with an epidural and had an episiotomy and a 2nd degree tear.

Now 7 weeks postpartum - I’ve been able to resume exercise but there’s still a long way to go. Single leg exercises are possible now but are still a little painful in the pelvis, about a 3/10 compared to the 8-9/10 on the pain scale while pregnant. But I’m sure it was subside more over the next few months.

Aside from that, it feels so good to move again and reconnect with my core, and I’m hopeful that my pelvic pain will be a distant memory 12 months from now.

Anyway, I’d love to know if my experience is similar to others. Tell me your stories!
