where to start if there are no SSOW/SOPS for work tasks

just moved into this new hs coordinator role of prior 2.5 years experience

it's a 3rd party food manufacturing site

there are no sops or ssows for job tasks here and there isn't rly a big enough budget to call someone in to study each work process and make an sop for it

any advice? having these in place will really improve incident/turnover rates I believe

for example the spice room guys/mixers don't always wear safety glasses and when I go on the floor and speak to them sometimes their eyelashes are dusted white from sugar lol 😬

manual handling and lifting standards

hi there! I'm in a role where there's so HS manager or specialist so I'm building up my experience as a coordinator

I wanted to ask if does anyone know how much two people can lift something for example a parchment roller that they would slot into a machine in a food manufacturing setting

each roll is around 33lb, they want to increase the weight so there's less changeover time to probably 66lb per roll, they would lift it probably every 5 hrs and duration would be around a minute or just under

it would typically be a two person job

I know one person can lift upto 50lb

but it doesnt make practical sense to assume 2 people = 100lb max

can anyone advise 🫪 thank you!

don't have to be specific but do paramedics earn a decent income in the UK?

my husband (a Canadian) is a paramedic in Toronto, one of the reasons why he can't see himself leave is he doesn't want to hop over to the same job that pays less ... I'm a Brit in Canada trying to make a plan of our future ;-;
