Marketing leader (10+ yrs, D2C e-commerce) relocating to Denmark with my family in 2027 — looking for leadership or co-founder opportunities
Hi everyone,
my partner and I are planning to move to Denmark next year with our young daughter. We recently spent time there and fell in love with the country — now I'm working on the career side of the move and would appreciate honest input from people who know the Danish market.
Who I am:
10+ years in digital marketing, mostly for e-commerce players. Currently Head of Marketing at a German D2C brand (Shopify, DACH + international), with full ownership of the global marketing direction across all channels, leading a team of 4 plus several agencies.
What I've delivered recently:
- Built and executed a go-to-market strategy for expansion into 3 additional EU countries — from zero to launch within a few weeks
- Established influencer marketing and performance TV as entirely new channels
- Developed the brand together with a well-known brand ambassador — incl. measuring actual brand impact instead of just running the campaign
- Deep in the AI game: I build automations (n8n, AI workflows, ai agents and tools) that free up my team's capacity — competitor monitoring, content pipelines, reporting. This is where I see the biggest leverage for lean teams right now
What I'm looking for:
A marketing leadership role (Head of / VP / CMO level) in e-commerce or D2C — or a co-founder role where I own growth and marketing. I'm entrepreneurial by nature and open to early-stage setups.
My questions:
- How does the Danish market look for senior marketing leadership in e-com/D2C right now (Copenhagen/Aarhus)?
- Is fluent Danish a hard requirement at that level, or do international scale-ups hire in English? (German native, English fluent)
- Where does the Danish startup/e-com scene actually connect — communities, events, angel networks — if I'm also exploring co-founder matches?
- Realistic comp range for Head of Marketing / CMO in D2C?
Happy to connect with anyone in the industry. Tak!
