“Pie-pan”, a style or a homage?

I was doing some research and, apparently, it’s a style not exclusive to Omega. The Omega Constellation was simply the most popular one.

I found Rolex, IWC, Movado, and Longines watches with the same style.

What do you think? Is it a style, or would a watch like that merely be an homage to the Omega Constellation?
