Do I wash it off and put it in fresh water? Really newbie and was just trying to experiment, help please!

How would you change things to help it grow more leaves? Is my pot too big? I water it once a week and it is in full morning sun on the balcony.

I was gifted this a week ago and have not done much with it reading that it should acclimate to a new home before repotting.

I've:

- put it in a bright, indirect sun spot indoors

- rotated daily

- not watered because the soil is still damp

The bottom 3 leaves look chalky with black spots but the top ones look well with new baby leaves.

What should I do? Thank you :)
